Hi guys, as you can see the PM and Marc Miller have been talking about asylum these days. What do you think about new immigration policies? They said they want to expedite the times for asylum process. Which is a great thing. Let’s wait and see how everything will affect.

The real goal is to deny those who don’t qualify much faster.

Technically you can but I would only apply if you have significant proof that there is nowhere safe to return to in your home country. It appears that you are an international student which may also create additional challenges. Are you currently on a PGWP and if so when does it expire? There are going to be some reforms to the asylum systems in December and one of the policy changes is likely to target international students claiming asylum in Canada.

My PGWp is expiring Dec next year
But the core reason is not to go back and be married to someone whom you have no feeling for bcus of tradition.

Please consult with a lawyer before filing a claim. Your reasons for filing don't sound strong. Additionally it can work against you if you did not file your claim soon after arriving in Canada.

Have you returned to your home country for a visit at all since coming to Canada as a student?

You would need to prove that you are being forced to enter a marriage against your will even though you have a work permit in Canada. A hypothetical situation is not typically grounds for asylum. Would wait and see what reforms are announced in December. Any international student claiming asylum should be very careful since they have a target on their backs.
