Hello everybody,

My husband and i received the provincial letter of approval from MB and currently waiting for the CIC approval.
We would like to know what are the obligations in matter of living in Manitoba, for how long etc.

We are affraid that we won't find a job that suits our knowlege, and therefor we would like to know if we can move to another province?
Also we would like to know after what period of time we get the Citizenship?

Thanks a lot :)

Kat

Hi,
You get your Canadian citizenship after legally being in the country for 3 years.
There are jobs in Manitoba. Unemployment is the third lowest after Saskatchewan and Alberta.

About obligations to stay: you receive permanent residence for all of Canada and there is no law to oblige you to stay in Manitoba.
However you have to spend some time in Manitoba after your arrival in order to get your Permanent Residence card, Health insurance card.
After that you can probably move to another province.

Regards...

Sergio

Sergio thanks for the fast reply.

If there is no law to oblige one to stay in Manitoba, under what terms or what programm we can get the Citizenship in Alberta?
Because we will immigrate under the MPNP programm why should Alberta give us afterwards the Citizenship, if at all...

Would the government of Manitoba will make us any problems?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Kat.

The Government of Canada only can issue you a Canadian Passport.
Alberta has nothing to do with your application for citizenship.

I don't see any problem from Gov. of Manitoba.

Sergio.

Until u get canada passport.

Hi Friends,

Once a person gets Permanent Resident Visa under MANITOBA PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAM, what is the mandatory time period for which that person has stay within Manitoba?

Some people say its 6 months, some say 1 year, some say 2 years & some even say for lifetime !!
Can someone tell what is the right time frame?

Looking forward to logical replies.

Thanks & Regards.

There's no time limit whatsoever. When I landed the officer told me the only condition to keep my residency is to live on canadian soil. I asked her since I am through the QSW program, do I have to stay in Quebec, or if I get a job in a different province, I can go or not. She said: you can go anywhere in canada, if I have the right to go to a new province, then so you do".
So you can go anytime, you don't even have to land in Manitoba. Manitoba's part is over. The federal government is the one who gave you your residency.
