hello, i am a final year medical student from england and would like to work in canada as a doctor. I am really confused by the steps i will need to go through in order to come over and wonder if you could give any advice?

this is my understanding so far- i need to pass the mcc exam- is this very difficult?!
then i would need to apply for a residency programme with a university and then i think i need to pass another set of exmas- MQE part 1 and 2 but are these later when i have done my residency programme?

then as for immigration- is a temporary visa ok and how hard are these to get?

thank you, i know there are lots of questions but i am very confused!

hi saff,

basically if u have a british degree it always counts.
u have to clear MEE first its not that hard.Regarding when to take MCQE i'm not sure.
the exam covers only internal medicine, obg, sugery, psychiatry, community medicine.so its not like USMLE.
check out the medical council of canada website for the details regarding exam and immigration site to immigrate.
residency is not that easy but things are changing for good.
i dont know what u meant by temp visa. i think u need residence status visa to get into the residency prog.
by the way, why leave Uk? i believe things are not that bad, now that all the overseas trained doctors have been kicked out!
good luck
