There are quite a lot of initial expenses when arriving in a new country. Just staying in temporary accommodations for a couple of weeks before you secure a lease would a be a few thousand dollars. Then you have to put down first and last month's rent, winter clothing for the family may be needed, basic furnishings for the new home or apartment, etc. It adds up very quickly.
I understand that and I have done that while first moving from a south asian country to northwestern US and then later to a new city to East coast and now moving from US to Canada. There are tons of decent hotel rooms available for $50 a night in every big city. Let's you spend first 2 weeks in a Best western inn in QC for $50 a night. That's $700. You can easily find a rental apartment for $1000 / month perhaps not at the most posh place right in the middle of the city but hey, such is life. Utilities hardly ever cost that much but let's say $300 for monthly utilities. That's 2000 bucks for 1.5 months of accommodation. I am being generous here but add 400 bucks for transport per month, 600 bucks for groceries / food. Thats's still only 3000 bucks. Add 1000 bucks for misc. expenses, healthcare premium, basic bedding set from walmart, comforters, sweaters and jackets from walmart, cups, bowls yada yada. It still wouldn't cost more than 4000 / month. The 10,000 / month is just plan nonsense.

I am a recent PR and moving to Canada in March. Can I be advised which city is a good place to drop first up?

My mid term goal, in 7-15 months is to take a managerial job. But I am willing to do basic survival level jobs from the start. I do not want to set back my limited capital which will be set back by airline costs and other moving costs.

Which city and state are good for newcomers with regard to good salary, growing economy but reasonable cost of living? Are Edmonton and Calgary any good, which others? What about the small east coast states?

And how best to find a basic job to survive like a store clerk or gas station attendant? How best to go about it so I can find within 1-2 weeks of landing? I do not know anyone in Canada.
