Hi everyone

I have a question about IELTS for Express Entry. Back in Sep I took the test to create my EE profile. Then I applied to do a 3 months professional course in some other Country. They told me they would need me to either take the IELTS academic or, alternatively, the General Training test would also be accepted (because it's a professional certification) as long as all results were 7.5 or above. I could not use the IELTS results I took for the EE as I got 7.5 and above on all sections, except for the writing task, which was 6.5. So they told me to repeat it. I then decided to go and repeat the GT instead of doing the academic. So I got a new test report form, one copy only this time (2 copies the previous time). My question is: does this need to be reported in the EE profile even though it was not taken for immigration purposes? in my original IELTS application it was specified that this test was being take for a 3 months course in this other Country. I am just a bit confused. These results are obviously higher :p
thanks!

From what you are saying if you wish to report the better results you will have to 'Withdraw' and re-create your EE profile. The reason I say is that the 'biographical information' and the 'language results' are transferred from your 'Come To Canada' tool to your EE profile as you had to input the reference number provided by IELTS. In summary you can do the following:

1) if you a high CRS score and are confident of getting an ITA do nothing;
2) If you see some benefit from these language scores then 'Withdraw' your current profile and re-create a new profile

Let me know how this goes.

Hi JoacRy

thank you for this.

Is it not possible to just update the results into the EE profile language and education session? Like we do for the work experience, etc (in case of a new job).

Also, I was reading online...are not legally obliged to report any changes in IELTS score? They say that on the CIC website. I am confused because even if this test is the General Training IELTS test it was by all means NOT taken for immigration purposes and that was stated in the original application to the British Council

thanks!

Yes, it can be changed in the EE profile but from what I understand there is a matching process between the information entered in the 'Come to Canada' tool and the EE profile. The reason for my suggestion was that the VO may get confused if the IELTS reference number and results in the 'Come To Canada' tool does not correspond to the IELTS reference number and results reported in the EE profile.

If you remember when completing the EE profile these fields were pre-populated as you had entered the data in the 'Come To Canada' tool. I think it is always better to leave less room for confusion.

You can modify your EE profile any time before getting an ITA.

Ah okay I see what you mean now. No I never used the Come to Canada Tool. I knew I was eligible and I already had a myCIC account so I just went straight into that and completed the profile.
My question was more in the line of - do you need to report a test that was taken for a total different reason and not for immigration purposes?

You don't have to report that test.

HI Asivad I do have another question: does CIC access the British Council and see all results and tests you have taken? The same way they access the ECA report from Wes for example?

thanks,

No. They can access only that attempt whose TRF reference number is made available to them.
