Hi,

I went through some of the posting on this site and want you to pls guide on my case and suggest how should I go about applying for the Federal Skilled Worker - Permanent Residence program.
I am not having absolutely any idea, on where should I start my application process from as I have no one to guide about it.

I sincerely don't want to deal with these agents, and if I come to know about the correct and timely procedure, I surely would like to apply on my own.

Based on what you have listed above, you seem to be very educated and you also seem like you are someone who would be very intelligent, I think you should probably start by reading the information listed at the following link:

Federal skilled workers

Canada Skilled Worker Immigration

Canada Federal Skilled Worker (Professional) Immigration

After reading the links, you will be in a much better position to ask specific questions about the FSW program.

Hi,

Thanks for replying.

I checked on the links and tried to get an understanding on the process, but since I am new to these processes, I am not able to get things so quick.

Regarding the eligibility, I had sent all my details (CVs of both me and my wife) to some consultants couple of months back and they replied that we both are far well eligible for the application in the FSW-PR category and one even told that since we are having basic knowledge on French as well, it would be better for sure.

I even checked the fee structure for the applications and it looks it would be 1100 CDR (not sure if I calculated correctly)

I also checked I could apply under the occupation category of "2147:Computer engineers (except software engineers/designers)" under the "ELIGIBLE OCCUPATION" list.

We are also planning to go ahead for the IELTS test, within the next quarter (as I learned the exams are scheduled once only in a period of 3 months in Delhi, India)

Please tell what must be the first step on my way to get FSW-PR.

Thanks

Lalit

If you qualify under NOC 2147 - don't bother applying. Only 300 applications are being accepted for this occupation for FSW this year. Everyone expects this cap to be reached extremely quickly. In fact, it's quite likely that CIC has already received more that 300 applications for this occupation. Given you haven't even taken the IELTS test yet - it's far too late to apply.

You should explore other options. For example, if you can get a job offer in Canada, then you can still apply.

Lalit,

For applying under 2013 Federal Skilled Worker category quota for your NOC you quite late... as explained earlier in the 300 cap must have been filled already. Either wait for same till 2014, expecting to the cap to reset (unless CIC changes to 'Expression of Interest' EOI system as opposed to current FIFO model)

OR asses your case for Other categories (Arranged employment or PhD) , or else, Quebec program.

While you think/ select your most suitable option (or wait till 2014), it is advisable that you get your ECA and IELTS done in the meantime.. you'll need them anyways, anytime, any program you wish to apply for.

Hi,

Its nice to see that people do reply to help in this forum.

I talked to some consultants earlier and they did tell me the same. But, still I myself am not hoping to get a place in 2013 quota.
So what I am preparing for is 2014, by that time I can get some of my professional/technical certifications done as well, like (PMP etc.), get more training and fluency on French language and take time in clearing IELTS in good scores.

Some of the consultants I talked earlier, said that if you get good score in IELTS (8 or above), then you must straight away apply for Australian or New Zealand PR rather than Canadian one, as the pay packages are high in Australia.
---------------------------------------

As you suggested as well, I must opt for the PhD courses in Canada. I am thinking of these options we well. But, I can't leave my job and start up a PhD at this age, as my earning are needed to support the family. Rather my wife, who is already working as an Assistant Professor in Delhi's IP University, want to go ahead for this, and she is also having basic knowledge of French.
But, I am not clear about my options to be able work in Canada in that case (whether I can work on a "student dependent visa" in Canada or not, like we can do in case of UK) (PhD fee in UK Universities are really high, approx. minimum 45000 GBP for a minimum 3 year PhD program for international students).
---------------------------------------

Next, you have suggested about the option of "Arranged employment".
I searched few job search sites, but, could not find anything/anyone that could hint about sponsoring the jobs in Canada.
If you could hint about any such source to search for, then I will surely try for it.
---------------------------------------

Also, can you please share your experiences on how you got you ECA done.
I tried the link for "World Education Services" (www_wes_org/fswp) and got my MS (from BITS, Pilani) test assessed. It showed me that it is equivalent to Canadian 4 year Bachelors degree program.

"Equivalency in Canada: Bachelor's degree (4 years)"

----------------------------------------

Also, if you guys can help about getting good score in IELTS and share your experiences, then please do help me in that as well.
----------------------------------------

It would be kind of you people if you could share some individual contact details as well.
I stay in Delhi and would be able to talk to you. It would be nice if someone knowledgeable could guide about the processes forward.
My personal email ID is: LALITMITTAL79@GMAIL.COM

Thanks

Arranged Employment:
Kind of difficult to get unless its an intra Co. transfer to Canada. The employers are not willing to hire a Foreign worker knowing the risk that it will take 2-3 months to make an individual land to Canada and of course, there's a risk that you may or may not join after the offer is placed to you. So, its kind of tough, but I'm not saying impossible.
ECA
You must have tried the free tool of WES, which is not updated. If you pay them the fee, they will definitely evaluate your Master's degree to a Canadian equivalent Masters degree.
IELTS
There are a no. of forums and websites that will help you get better score, just google them out, there is also a separate IELTS forum, you will find good links in it.

Overall, keep reading CIC website and this forum and you will get plenty of information.
