This is meaningless. This indicates how many visas CIC will issue during the 2014 year. There are still many people who applied through FSW in 2013 or earlier waiting for visas and some of these individuals are the ones who will be granted a visa in 2014. If someone applies for PR in April / May 2014 - they won't be issued a visa in 2014. It would take until 2015 at least. So any projected numbers for 2014 could not possibly include April / May 2014 applicants.

Generally, CIC announces around 5/6 months before the program launch (if FSW program is launched on June 2014, by now CIC would announce the program); so far, no news is given. Only the news is that From January 2015, there will EOI system. And a program is generally run for one year and no two program runs simultaneously. It means the FSW 2014 program require to be for July to Dec (6 month) if launched.

Also historically CIC does not launch program two consecutive years - after 2011 launch in 2013.

So everything indicates there is a very low chance of launching FSW 2014.

guys , my consultant says that FSW 2014 is going to open in couple of months ..

is this true ?? because as far as i know, CIC published their policy regarding FSW 2015 couple of months ago. so, i don't think there will be any FSW 2014 program ..

i could not make it into FSW 2013 and i am eagerly waiting for up coming FSW program ..

plz share if anyone have any information regarding new up coming FSW program ..

Offering “Express Entry” to qualified economic immigrants

Ottawa, April 8, 2014 (CNW) - Canada’s Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander announced that Canada’s active recruitment model for economic immigration will officially be called “Express Entry.” Set to launch in January 2015, “Express Entry” is a major step forward in the transformation of Canada’s immigration system into one that is fast, flexible and focused on meeting Canada’s economic and labour needs.

“Express Entry” will allow for greater flexibility and better responsiveness to deal with regional labour shortages, and help fill open jobs for which there are no available Canadian workers. “Express Entry” candidates who receive a valid job offer or nomination under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) will be quickly invited to apply for permanent residency – a key distinction between “Express Entry“ and the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, which is only used to fill temporary labour and skill shortages.

Formerly referred to as “Expression of Interest”, “Express Entry” will be open to skilled immigrants and allow the government to select the best candidates who are most likely to succeed in Canada, rather than those who happen to be first in line. It will also prevent backlogs and allow Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to better coordinate application volume with the annual immigration levels plan.

Qualified applicants can expect faster processing times of six months or less when invited to come to Canada in four key economic streams: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, Canadian Experience Class, and a portion of the PNP.

With “Express Entry,” employers will have a key role in selecting economic immigrants and providing advice to the Government of Canada. To this end, Alexander also announced that over the course of spring 2014, CIC will work with provincial and territorial governments to hold a series of cross-Canada information sessions to provide employers with more information about this exciting new system.

Any idea, for new applicants, if CAP is not reached by 04 May 2014 in any NOC code, will CIC accept application after 04 May 14?
