My husband has just been transferred to the Canadian branch of his company, so they'll be relocating us to Montreal. (Yay!) We are both US citizens, and would happily consider PR or Canadian citizenship when we've been there long enough. My current job in Georgia is considering letting me continue to work remote for half of the time, and come into our physical office half of the time. Their biggest concern is they want to avoid establishing Canadian payroll taxes, which I understand, for only one employee.

My question is this: can I legally work and pay taxes for half a year in the US/GA and half a year in Montreal without my company paying taxes to Canada? I'm willing to pay the Canadian taxes myself, but I'm not sure what all is involved.

I welcome all of your advice and suggestions! Thank you.
