Ok this is getting me worried now I see there are alot of sept applicants from 1-22 getting dm and ppr but I havent been getting any updates since april 5th and im sept 9 applicant medical passed and background check is in process also senr additiional docs as well and now for the the past 3 weeks no updates since Any more sept applicant left now if so how many ????
I am Aug 8th Applicant. There was a additional document request on March 14th and I have sent it in couple of days.
No response after that. its been more than a month but not a word or change in the status.

I know its frustrating but then we don't have any choice other than to wait. Don't worry we will get it soon.

Yep. that's what i fear most. They blame volumes for long wait times but the fact is they are just incompetent and chaotic. Cant wait to be done with cic mess. it is not as much as the delay (if for good reason) that frustrates me, its the unfairness and unpredictability of approving applications.

Fatima: I don't think you need any proof of funds if you are landing under the spousal category. Proof of funds is only needed under "skilled migrants visa category" (PNP/express entry) where they have to show some minimum amount while they look for jobs. You can carry as much or as less money as possible, as long as that is declared while landing. You can carry cash, check, or even show a statement that you have X amount of money that you will be using in Canada. In case X is large (and you wire transfer), you may get a CRA letter but a simple response telling them you just immigrated and brought in that money should be Ok.

Btw, this may be helpful to some. Certain banks allow free transfer between Canada and other countries. For me, a TD bank account in the US, allows me a free transfer to an account in Canada without any tax implications. There are others like HSBC, ICICI that may allow similar transfers but I haven't checked. The currency conversion rates are much better this way than DDs. But do check for monthly fees as only some of them will have a free account based on the number of transactions per month.

Also, another thing you may consider is that if you already had an American Express card in your home country, Amex allows global card transfers that will be extremely useful as you won't have any credit history in Canada. https://www.americanexpress.com/global-card-transfers/
