Just so everyone knows, most flights are completely booked in economy class right up to mid January now. There are business class seats left first week in January and the price on those are horrendous! I have a business class ticket (return) in March that was only 3200 CDN (I had a 30% voucher so it only cost me 2600 total in the end taxes in) but now even one way business class ticket is about 5000 CDN for first few weeks in January. You might have to play a bit with airlines. United came up with a 22 hr flight to Toronto from Delhi (I'm guessing it goes the pacific route) and that was around 1400 CDN for one way. A delta one came up as well but lately Delta airlines is not in good news for having discriminatory practices so I'd avoid that. Air India and Jet Airways both came up in the 140000 INR range for economy and that's about 2700 CDN. As a result I think my hubby is booking for mid January after the holiday rush. Oh and one other cheaper one came up using Etihad airways Delhi to Abu Dhabi to Heathrow to Toronto and that was about 1300 CDN but longer travel time and and two stopovers.

Hi ,

I am a December 2015 applicant and finally got my email for passport stamping and sent it today .Since I am in canada I have sent it to Ottawa processing. What are the next steps once it is stamped and timeline. Should i still cross the border since am already inside canada or should i have a visa to USA to cross before i receive a valid PR number .

Congrats....you can do flag polling without having USA visit Visa.

There is information on thread about flag polling...take a time to find more about it.

Good Luck

There are two steps,
1. Flagpole landing, no US VISA needed, but you the PA has to drive to the US border and tell the lane agent that HE/SHE needs to do a flag pole and they will route you back to Canada with a paper which u need to present to the Canadian Official.

2. Contact CIC for an appointment for an inland landing at CIC offices in your city, check with them the wait time. Once the appointment is made, it needs to be respected.

Depends on the load of applications in Ottawa, its the only office we have here. There is not much traffic but still cant say. I would sincerely urge you to make sure that when u mail in the passport, get a tracking number and wait for Dec 25th to pass. There might be a chance, that your passport may be lost due to surge in parcels and letters. Just as a caution and not to scare you
