I think NDVO is clearing backlog of 2014 and 2015 files since Canada's Immigration minister is visiting India soon. So they have to have proof and documents for which lot of us have done enquiries. So they have to show numbers on paper with facts so I believe it will be fast tracked for backlog files.

Guys,

I spoke to my local MP office today, they were really good, gave me update within half an hour, I was shocked at the turn around time. I ordered GCMS notes in sept and it showed that the file had not been touched since it arrived in March 2016. MP office said that file was opened on oct 2nd and eligibility was started and they returned some of my wife's original school certificates in the mail, which she hasn't received yet. Now the file is in queve for eligibility review, whenever that will happen. So since February, nothing has been done on it. Atleast now I know that it will take a while so I am not frantically checking my cic everyday.

Question I have in mind is that, do they do checks for eligibility stage as well, like go to the area where the marriage is registered and check the records. Is that why the eligibility is not done yet. I assumed they would just read the file and decide on eligibility, is there more to it than that.

Hey Guys,

Received a bit of good news today. Two days after MP inquiry where they said that file was in queve for Eligibility review. Today I check myCIC website and it said that background check was in progress. I am not sure whether the Mp Inquiry made a difference or the documents I sent them without asking about my visit to india after filing the application made a difference. I hope that NDVO keeps the trend going and completes the rest of Jan-Mar applicants so they can focus on the rest of the year... I know it wills till be a long wait but it helps to see something move.

hopefully sooner. They probably have many applications sitting in queue to be reviewed. I think we will start to see more background checks go in progress soon.

There is alot guys in the 2015 group sitting with decision made for the past month but they haven't received PPR request. So you may need to wait a little longer... I have been following NDVO for the past year and it seems that NDVO likes to send PPR all at once in short spurts. They had it in May and September. hopefully we get something like that in November or December.

You have to approach mp from your constituency, if you approach another MP, they will just ask you to go your MP. Which is what happened to me.

For all the guys who have decision made and are waiting for PPR request. Immigration minister is in India next week, lets find him on facebook and twitter and ask him why spousal applicants are waiting for over a month for PPR request after decision made. what is left to do after decision made. Perhaps he can ask NDVO.
