Hey guys,

I got married at the start of this year. Finally wifey got all the documents and proofs sorted, she is sending it to me by end of this week. I am hoping to apply by early next week coz my side of documents are complete and ready to go.

I realized that few forms has been updated on CIC for the application but we have already printed and signed them. I am thinking of just sending in the forms we have printed coz i honestly dont see any difference between new ones and the older one. Do you think I will be fine? :S.

Good luck to everyone sending in their applications this year!

If your wife has not sent you the forms yet, I would suggest using the new forms. Will not take much time to fill in the new forms. It will give you a lot of peace of mind.

Since you are getting married next month, here's a tip. Save all proof of your communication right now. When you go for outing in India, save all proof. Receipts of restaurants, places of outings, proof of honeymoon travel, stay etc.

Also, keep this vocabulary in mind when filling forms:

Sponsor = Your Canadian Citizen/PR husband
Principal Applicant = You.

Since you were already refused visa to canada once, make sure that form IMM5669, Question 6d, Select Yes.

Following forms refer to your husband (sponsor):
IMM1344
IMM5491 (Checklist)
IMM5481
IMM5540
IMM5476 (Only if you use a lawyer)

Following forms refer to you (principal applicant):
IMM1344
IMM5669
IMM5406
IMM5490
IMM5476 (Only if you use a lawyer)

Feel free to ask any more questions you got.

Hi ,

I would suggest to refill up the forms because they may ask you to refill up and send them back that will delay your process , if you do it now it will delay for week but if they ask you to do it than it will delay around month. Just to be on safe side just redo the forms. it will give you 100% confident that your application is correct.

Thank you for the suggestions everyone. I will redo the forms that are not signed and can be done but the ones with barcode ones since wife has already signed them n printed them i won't make the change. I read in other forums that the changes are almost nothing.

Thanks everyone! :)

So guys,

When I submitted her file with her current passport, it did not have my name as a spouse on back of her Indian passport.
Now, we are thinking that she should add my name as her spouse on her passport in the case officer doubt anything.

So as a result of that, her passport number will change, although we don't want to change her actual name on the passport since that might be more confusing. Our file has been received at New Delhi.

So should we go ahead and add my name in the space of spouse name in the back of her passport? and then submit both the old and new passport when required with explanation? is that going to cause any issues?

Please guide. Thanks

The officer will not doubt the genuineness of your relationship just because you wife's passport does not have your name. There are lot other proofs they are going to look into (as asked in the application). So it is not mandatory to add your name in your wife's passport.

On the other hand, if your wife wants to change her last name to yours, my suggestion is to update the passport now (before PR is approved) because it is much easier to do it in India rather than to change the name in Canada after the PR is issued in maiden name.

In any case, if you are updating any information and getting a new passport, make sure to inform NDVO as soon as you get the new passport. Don't wait till you get PPR. They may ask you to fill in the new form and it may cause certain delay in your application.
