Hi Seniors/ Experts.

I am putting up my application to sponsor my wife.(We are legally married)
Wondering if I have to add (Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union [IMM 5409]) form along with my application package.

Can anyone give me a correct reply please.
I did search our forum, But i am getting mixed response.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have contacted my MP and talked to her that no updates for June applicants. she is going to check with NDVO and asked me who else you are talking about.

I STRONGLY RECOMMEND JUNE/JULY/APRIL APPLICANTS TO DO THE MP inquiry. AS this is bullshit of NDVO. being unfair.

If you're MP is doing it great but most of them will not do any inquiry if the processing is still under 17 months. So before anybody fill out any forms just call there office verify if they will do the inquiry.

You only fill out Common law declaration if you are not married yet but leaving together and have kids.I am pretty sure its mentioned in the guide if you read the instructions. But i am pretty sure more senior members will have more input to confirm this.By the way i didn't fill this form either for your assurance.

its not about doing inquiry to our files. its about explaining them this unfair process and asking him/her to do investigation about this new process.
if they are helpful they will surely help any individual who come to their office. It wont hurt to try.
if MPs start receiving this complains then they will raise their voice in Parliament and we might get some insider update.

Trying never hurts.Hope you succeed.

Few pages and a few days ago, I did bring up this topic about MP office declining to initiate an inquiry before 17 months. If anyone from Calgary or other provinces have had better luck then do share your experiences and how you went about it.

I understand and she made the same point to me then I simply asked her that why GCMS notes of an June applicant says nothing has started yer and October applicant is getting PPR. She asked counter question, who is getting ppr from October, I replies as my colleauge which is true and then I complained about unfairness not why it s taking long and she agreed and doing an inquiry.

Raise your voice, it wont hurt to contact. It was just a suggestion, its your decision after all.

Completely agreed, I also told her that you should be getting more complains on this.

Hi AKG15,

I think its depends on the MP. I have inquired from my MP in Edmonton i was told the same that you're file is under normal processing time so no inquiry will be initiated. After last year's election my area fall under a new riding so i have a new MP will try with him next week or so.But I have seen some members on this forum who had done inquiry before 17 months.

Hello guys, my wife is apr 29 applicant, she just got ppr, she is going to buy tickets to canada, i have a question-- does the Edmonton international airport have all the immigration facilities for first time landed immigrants like applying prcard, sin card, copr?
Thanks guys

MP can only inquire about your file and not make the process faster. So if you want to know if your file has been touched by NDVO, MP inquiry is a poor way of doing it (order notes). If you don't see people around ur application date getting re-med/ppr then patience is your friend. MP inquiry should be used if your file is not moving anywhere after Eligibility or everyone around you is getting update but not you (possibly misplaced your re-med/ppr Email letter).

However, as PNP2014 said you can complain to your MP about the unfairness which the MP can inquire about the procedure being followed at NDVO.

My aunt lives in Edmonton and whenever we come from India, she does immigration at Pearson airport in Toronto and then takes another flight to Edmonton.

I think the Alberta international airport is for USA flights, but I am not sure if they have proper immigration services.
Usually you immigrate at first port of entry, if the flight first comes to Toronto or Calgary or Vancouver, u gotta do immigration there.

Yes they do.But unless your wife is fly KLM or i believe Delta as well then her landing process will happen in EIA because KLM and delta has code sharing and they connect your flight in Amsterdam but most of the flights to Edmonton come through Toronto so her landing process will be done there because that's the first port of entry.I leave in Edmonton and have taken this flight before same goes for Calgary as well but they have more options.

Hope this helps.
