In a recent interview(last week), Immigration Minister McCallum has said the following,

'Radical reduction' sought in wait times

While the Liberal Party's endeavour to resettle 25,000 Syrian refugees in less than four months has taken up most of the minister's time, McCallum said he will be moving forward with other commitments.

McCallum said his "top priority" is to reduce the processing times for Canadians who are sponsoring family members living abroad — and not just for those sponsoring spouses and common-law partners but also for those sponsoring parents and grandparents, children, and caregivers.

"It is unacceptable for Canada to ask spouses to wait typically 24 months before they are reunited, versus waiting periods like six to eight months for other countries with which we compare ourselves like the U.S., U.K., Australia."

McCallum said the government will make public its "ambitious targets" and announce an external advisory group of experts to help the government achieve a "radical reduction" in processing times.

The Liberals also vowed during the election campaign to reverse some of the changes made to the Citizenship Act by the previous Conservative government.

McCallum said he would be moving on that in the "coming days."

Hi guys i have a question when we open our online status on cic website on the right hand corner on complete bottom we see date modified: mine is showing 2015-12-15 n i am assuming they might open my file dat day last time this is what every april applicant got or its just something usual????just curious what it could be coz 3-4 months back whn i was in india i emailed delhi office dat im visiting india and my contact number and when i got reply back the date modified was changed for the same date so any idea wat it could be???

Afterthat, received the rqst to re-med in Dec 2015, & On, Feb 6th 2016, got an email rqsting: 1) Consent to disclosure form for NZ police clearance 2) copy of new passport (coz the one they have was expired) - He sent both these things
Do anyone have any idea...how long it will take now???

How much time did they give you to send the docs (Generally 45 or 60 days)? You will see DM anytime after that and PPR soon after.

The deadline they gave was... March 22nd 2016

You should expect to hear something after March 22. They generally review your file again then.

Congratzzz.....u may get ur ppr hopefully in a day or two or within this week......for ur knowledge , ppl hv got ppr aftr dm in about 1 day to 3 months so it can be anywhr between this time frame....though according to current trend same day,next day or in a week is observed on this forum.....hope fr the best n u shld get it soonnnn.....pack ur bags....u r done with this waittinnnggg...god bless u......
