Sometimes I feel why the hell I get to married to a NRI.
Loads of patience reqd. And when the person is damn impatient in nature, its almost killing.
Frustration, irritation, aggression bla bla but the actual feeling is much more than this.

hold on guys, dont loose hope.... the new government might reform the process and make it more streamlined....hope for best...no point in cursing ur spouse or NDVO... the process got lengthy because of the greediness and mistakes our own people...... keep yourself busy with stuff. i am sure there is so much to do......research about from profession, what you gonna d there, what are the prospects and all............

a machine has to be invented very soon which can find the genuine and fake relationships or some top mind reader should be placed in Visa offices because employees in offices are not quick to find a genuine relationship and not able to read minds ,,,and don t understands the feeliings of and applicants ,, i think i ve lost my one year of life in this process,, because cannot work for long terms (Contracts), not able to make future plans,,, overall is nothing in these days ,, totally wasting of Time!!!

Exactly same feelings. :(
I'm sad that most important year of my life is just spoiled in waiting.

I m also very tensed why they don't give any updates......I m 4 Feb applicant and no updates after remedical. People who applied after me got DM and PPR.....I m so upset. This waiting time is so frustrating.

Yes one year is a lot of time and quite valuable for younger folks. CIC probably has to modify the process/policy.

Just my two Cents lol..

1) Grant a TRV for spouse. No PR. Grant Open Work permit
2) Monitor the relationship in Canada for 1 Year - Ask proofs of ongoing relationship
3) Grant a Conditional PR for 2 Years or reject
4) Monitor the relationship - Ask proofs of ongoing relationship
5) Grant a full PR or reject

There can be loop holes in this process but can be streamlined and made stable.

The biggest downside is that an inland person can find a few other options to avoid deportation. Cost is another factor but fees can be hiked to cover costs.

I'm in the same situation. In my case it's me losing patience and my hubby in Canada seems not much worried about it. He feels it takes it's own time.

Recent Spousal visa applications stats shows that ;
1. 2014 was the slowest processing year by NDVO which resulted in the maximum wait time for the applicants average of 11-19 months with rejection rate rising to 17 percent from 14 percent in the past, few 2014 applicants still waiting for the interview dates, indeed it is very painful and unfortunate for them .
2. In 2015 NDVO has picked some pace in processing files so far and also clearing the backlogs ,according to the the 2014 spreadsheet 22 July 2014 applicants receiving interview dates ,hopefully everyone hears soon from lazy NDVO.
3. New Immigration minister said Family reunion is their top priority & they will increase the number of visa officers processing the files to cut down the processing time but according to their pace it is still going to take some time before it is really done .
4.Canada is going to welcome 25000 Syrian refugees this year ,but the good part is it will not affect the spousal visa processing because it is a different department all together.

Hope NDVO pick up the pace and process applications quickly making fair decisons and reunite the loved ones, who are loosing the precious time of their life waiting in dark.

Waheguru bless all :P
