is it bad to check status everyday(three times a day), i cant help.

Hello all,

I am new to the sponsorship process. I have not started it yet. I am not married yet. But to build the right expectations with my future wife I want to clarify few things.
Somethings are not clear on cic website.
1. Is the entire process taking 12 months or 17 months. I know it depends on each application but what's the usual trend
2. while my future wife is in india n the sponsorship application in process can she visit me on visitor visa? or is there a 50-50 chance of getting rejected. What is the maximum time she can stay as a visitor.
3. She thinks she can come to Canada on work permit through her employer. But in that case, I will have to sponsor her as an inland spouse which has a higher processing time.

Any inputs would be appreciated.

to ans ur questions :
1. straight forward applications takes closer to 12 months as of now. And yes, interview stacked apps takes 17 months.

2. Yes she can. need to provide strong ties to India. the below link answers most of ur ques regarding visitor visa.

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/visitor-visa-grantedwife-of-pr-t273759.0.html

3. Yes inland apps has a current processing time of 27 months as of the website.

Hope the info was found helpful :) and all the best for the future application :)

Any inputs would be appreciated.

it only adds to your stress level

well on a serious note yes you can check it as many times as you wish there is no harm

meanwhile i would suggest get yourself busy with other activity cos this wait sometimes is frustrating

Good luck

Congrats on your engagement..

1. The total processing time is 17 months as listed on the website but the avg for straight forward is about 8-9 months.
2. Yes she can most certainly apply for a visit visa; yes there is a 50-50 chance but the main reason is for the applicant not showing substantial ties here is a good thread which shows all the documents. As long as she can show that she will come back after the visit the chances are really good. Proof can be shown in assets, job commitments etc. She can stay 6 months at a stretch and can renew it online after.

3. First of all in-land applicant do have a higher processing time 2+ years; as other senior members have said so many times on the main thread DONT apply for in-land
A) Yes you can apply for open work permit which is a dangling carrot but the processing time is 2+ years and the applicant cannot leave the country
B) The avg for New Delhi is 8-9 months which is fairly short.

I am not saying its impossible but its hard to get a work permit through company sponsorship due to the fact it involves LMIA which is a tedious process and she cant come on a visit visa then apply inland either in case she has to leave after 6 months.

thanks! Drax and 007. thanks a lot for the prompt response to all my queries

Please care to reply my post... I am new here, doesn't mean I don't deserve to be answer...
My problem is lately i checked my Ecas which is shown as In-Process but when I click on that it shows like your null (applicant Name) application is received on july. We started working on null(applicant name) from septemper. What does d word null stand here? Is it bcoz I don't have surname? Plz reply people.

If there is no Surname for Applicant then CIC add Null as Last name.No need to worry it happens to all applicant who does not have Last Name or Surname.
best of luck.

You will get your SA on Oct. 14 (if by email) or by Oct. end (if by post).

If you immigrated to Canada, you can use your UCI# from the landing paper to check ECAS.

I can answer you on #2, Visitor Visa is totally possible. My wife got her Visitor Visa just this morning. I applied for her Spousal Sponsorship in early February of this year. The wait was unbearable, so we finally attempted for a Visitor Visa (knowing that there is a good chance of rejection as well) for her on 21st Sep, 2015. Everything went well and now she is coming over next week. ;D

Congratulations on the TRV....did you apply via paper or online?

It was paper application. While I prepared all the documentation and papers, I used the services of an Agent for the actual filing. I handed him all the paperwork that I thought would make our case strong and advised him to include it in my wife's application.

The same Agent filed for a TRV for another couple (PR file also in process for them) about 3 weeks prior to "us". The other couple unfortunately got rejected :(
