the wait period is different in differnt geographical location in canada i suppose. official timeline is 2 years i think for the whole process....

Even after you apply for citizenship, it will take almost another year for you to be registered to write an exam. I know someone that applied, been in Canada for 4 years. Still no date for Exam. Just got the books. Almost 5 yrs now..

i think if you become a canadian Citizen, you have to give up your Indian Passport. You will have to get OCI i believe.

Sorry a out of topic question.. Is their any legal formality to own property in India after becoming citizen in Canada.? Just curious

if the case is genuine then u dont have to scare.

yeah just hope for the best and keep my finger crossed...

why always genuine cases have to suffer this pain and fake cases goes very well... only genuine couple got interview call.. n cuz of fake cases lots of genuine cases got rejected as i heard last year 2 out of 10 cases got rejected.. i dnt think so all those who got rejected are fake cases.. poor couples those are genuine and still got rejected and then suffer the pain for re applying and more waiting game for them....

Toning my comments down.....(long day, no new news from NDVO...etc etc)

just for the benefit of people who joined this forum recently.....Anyone correct me if i am wrong...

1) Rejection rate: We have ONLY ONE case of rejection after interview that too because the interview dint go well, not because of fake or genuine etc. Official Numbers are 86% family sponsorship approval rate for the period April 2013 - March 2014 - total

Family Class (Total) 75,803(total) 12,289(refused) 72,589(approved) 86%

definitely NOT 20% rejection rate


2) Interviews: As per the Excel for NDVO 2013 - i think we have 13-15 applicants between july13 and dec13 who were called for an interview. It sucks but it is not high compared to 400+ applicants we had on the forum. I think it is important they discuss questions for everyone benefit...

Remedicals and ADRs suck more!! adds a min of 2-3 months to the process.

that being said - NO IDEA what NDVO is upto these days - but since student month of august had very few or nill interviews scheduled - we will get to hear quite a few interview scheduled fr this septmber and next month - october of June - Dec 2013 applicants.

3) i read in the forum earlier, 2014 applicants forecast is to increase to 60k from 48k, data suggests application count decrease from the last quarter.

Technically speaking, Jan 2014 applicants have not received visa yet (exception being LOVU71) so they are still working on issuing visa to late 2013 applicants only....

NOTHING TO BE WORRIED ABOUT YET....they are going in SNAIL PACE(even napping, not sure) and it sucks far tooo much...(am venting here)

Congratulations on taking the next important step in your life....

Yes Marriage certificate by the Registrar office is VERY IMPORTANT. although i dont think it is necessary to convert for NDVO purposes(they dont care about that). from point of proving that your marriage is legitimate and not for convenience is upon you (same as everybody else) but for that you need to be extra cautious regarding the documentation and photos.

If you know him for long time, keep documentation starting from that.....( 8 years is a long time) hence it is good... other thing i have seen NDVO checking if parents, inlaws and siblings on both sides are at the wedding, if not, then you need documentation for that. In your case, send as many pictures (all rituals)as you can and of all three occations, 1) hindu temple rites 2) Church ceremony and 3) registration process(govt office) if possible.

if you cohabit - proof of that....So in essence, send in as many documentation and photos as possible and then PRAY (like all of us) that VO is convinced and wont have to go through an interview. Interview defn adds couple of months into the process time. Hence take the precaution....

Nothing to be worried dear.....reading about remedicals & ADRs and interview calls is very scarry...hence i just posted one of the plausible explanation...

to help out other people few like RKS, Fakename and to a great extent W2E who is sticking around after gettng his visa...hatts of to them....
