Yes Marriage certificate by the Registrar office is VERY IMPORTANT. although i dont think it is necessary to convert for NDVO purposes(they dont care about that). from point of proving that your marriage is legitimate and not for convenience is upon you (same as everybody else) but for that you need to be extra cautious regarding the documentation and photos.

If you know him for long time, keep documentation starting from that.....( 8 years is a long time) hence it is good... other thing i have seen NDVO checking if parents, inlaws and siblings on both sides are at the wedding, if not, then you need documentation for that. In your case, send as many pictures (all rituals)as you can and of all three occations, 1) hindu temple rites 2) Church ceremony and 3) registration process(govt office) if possible.

if you cohabit - proof of that....So in essence, send in as many documentation and photos as possible and then PRAY (like all of us) that VO is convinced and wont have to go through an interview. Interview defn adds couple of months into the process time. Hence take the precaution....

One more question:

I am currently in Toronto and getting married in New Delhi in November.
I will come back to Toronto in January and apply for my husbands pr...(we've known each other for 8 solid years)

I am Hindu and he is Christian.
We are getting married in the Church of North India(Catholic wedding)-the church asked me to provide and affidavit stating I am hindu and am marrying by Christian rights out of my free will.
We will also be having a small temple ceremony the day before church ceremony.

The church despite our religions will issue a marriage cert.(since I provided the affidavit)
My in-laws have not asked me to convert-maybe I will later-maybe I won't

Does it matter if I convert?
Will converting be better for application purposes?
Do they care if we are of different religions and I am not converting after marriage?

Any help on this issue will be appreciated!

Hi, your timeline is exactly same like me. They've received my Application on January 30,2014, and now I got IP status since 28th August 2014. Please inbox me if you get any further progress,and I'll do the same. It just gives us a hope that if another person got it then I'll get it soon too thank you

My wife is staying close to visa office. Do they visit or they do check by calling???

Even I live very close by but distance makes no difference.
