You have a right to request your MP for your file status anytime....usually they request you to come back after 6-7 weeks for second request... IT WILL NOT SLOW THE PROCESS IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT......u can apply for GCSM notes anytime and AGAIN IT WILL NOT SLOW DOWN ANY PROCESS..pls read the previous posts on this discussion. anyway by looking at ur timeline i do not see any issues with ur file... juss have some patience.Steve Jones said:Hello everyone,

But MP in my neighbourhood gave me IMM5475e to fill it up n sign by sponsor n applicant both. My spouse signed n forwarded it to me. Then signed n forwarded it to my MP. It means every MP does not use the same form n process. I did all from my home. Scanned, called, emailed. That's it.schwrizer said:Hey, you can call and schedule a meeting with the MP by calling their office. All MPs have their constituency office in their electoral area.
They will ask for the reason, and you can state that it is for a status update on your spousal sponsorship application.
I knew who the MP in my case was, in your case, you can look up your MP based on the neighbourhood you live in. http://www.parl.gc.ca/Parlinfo/Compilations/HouseofCommons/MemberByPostalCode.aspx?Menu=HOC
I did not have to take anything along with me. They just asked me to bring the UCI and File Number.
Mine said I can contact them every 10-12 weeks for an update if required.Steve Jones said:Thanks sir ji for reply and in near future can i again contact the MP as well
I'm not an expert but I don't see any harm in contacting MP frequent times with reasonable duration.Steve Jones said:Thanks sir ji for reply and in near future can i again contact the MP as well

MP can give u the overall status of your process but in GCSM notes u can find out each and every step taken during the process of your file so far (for detail oriented people).Steve Jones said:Thanks Jk for reply

GCSM is the snapshot of your file in their system
