Hi,

I landed in calgary, canada just 5 months ago...though the sailing was not easy, but I got a job and will complete 2 months in 3 days. I wanted some advise on sponsoring parents.

My parents are US citizens (thru my brother who lives in the US) but live in india, and I would like to sponsor them for their Canadian PR. However, based on the research and reading up I have been doing since the past 3+ weeks, I am pretty much confused and need someone to knock me around a bit. :)

1. My Dad is 81 and mom is 74 - any chances of rejection?
2. If they are living in India, means that the application would go thru New Delhi.
3. If they apply from the US, can they stay in india while their application is being processed?
4. Would it be better to have them in Canada and apply when they are here in Canada?
5. Do I have to show 3 years consecutive income in Canada?

This is just the start, and I understand that currently they are not accepting applications since they have completed their quota of 5000 for this year.

I will appreciate any guidance or pointing me in the right direction for more research and understanding.

Thanks and Best Regards

send them a letter and an email explaining that you forgot to mention about visa denial to the building address and email address provided in the link below. Make sure you write details such as file number; applicant's name; phone number etc...

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/india-inde/offices-bureaux/new_delhi.aspx?lang=eng#address

when did you apply? and what is your ecas status now? even if you had not mentioned about visa rejection, they can easily find out your history of past and present dealings with canadian visa office...

1. not sure if their visas will be rejected..age is against them (current conservative government wants younger people with skills, high qualifications and if possible job in Canada already prearranged). First question visa officers want to know is they are U.S. citizens what prevents them going on tourist visa to visit you and why do they need to live there...your best source would be to check parents sponsorship thread...
2. i think it would go to new delhi if they give indian address ..wherever they spend most of their time and live and the address they give is the basis which NDVO assigns office..
3. not sure how that works..my guess is they can live in india but i am not 100% sure...but if they are asked to appear for interview (highly unlikely not sure about canada but one of my relatives aged 80 applied for u.s. tourist visa did not have to go for interview) do they travel back and forth from india to u.s?
4. inland application takes longer than applying for outside Canada
5. no idea....

just curious is this something (becoming a Canadian PR) that your parents want to do? if they have never been to Canada maybe they should come there as tourist and try Canadian winter and see if they can handle Calgary in winter!!!

Hahah.. I have already applied for notes will be getting them next week.. I was expecting the interview as the wedding was simple with parents not being able to make it at wedding even though I stayed with my in laws.. Provided enough proofs .. But somewhere I knew simple wedding without parents would be a red flag so lets see..

they will email you or your lawyer if you have one....visa officers are bored at looking similar applications as well and that's why they have some fun by asking people to appear for interview and ask them stupid questions...some offices entertain themselves by having friday parties while NDVO likes to see people for interview and ask stupid questions..for some government offices 'thank god it is friday.. it's party time' for ND visa officer 'thank god i get to torture people with stupid questions'....

did you atleast have grandpa with his false set of teeth to attend? it is a red flag for not having him...you can have parents attend the wedding but no honeymoon then it is a red flag; you can have honeymoon but did not go to hill station then it is a red flag...who knows what these lovely folks consider as red flags...check notes and you may get a hint...

This is getting a bit ludicrous, I guess what is lacking here is an intention to invest an ephemeral empathy into people waiting for visas. I guess at the end of the day, we are only so much invested in our jobs emotionally, nothing different with CIC either.

PS: The backlog wasn't created because people thought 2013 was a good year to get married, it was mostly due to their strike, which I truly empathize with, because their counterparts in Canada are earning a few extra dollars. When thousands of applicants can wait for you to get a few extra dollars every other week, I don't think they reciprocate the same feeling back.

At the end of the day, we are all "back and white" one with a 100 pictures to back their "black and white" up, some with far less, but all with a story and a purpose.

Student Visa refusal may not effect your chances , In most cases student visas are rejected likely due to financial reasons ( 'i.e' you can't afford the tuition or your scholarship is not enough etc).

But here, your spouse is approved for sponsorship means he/she has financial ability to take care of you. Be positive.. you will hear good news soon.
hey sravoct just correct ur timeline ur medical is lil bit wrong. ..I think its 22-9-2013 not 2014..
