Quota is only for Federal skilled workers and experienced class. Its not applicable to spouse/partners. We come under family reunion law (however now its seems like a joke). Even if there was a quota and it got filled, then CIC will stop accepting applications in the first place and declare on their website.

We have received your application for permanent residence in Canada in the Family class on
mm/dd/yyyy and have created a file with the file number indicated above.
Note: The application received date is in mm/dd/yyyy format. Please quote this file number in
all future correspondence with our office.

Canada has a carefully managed and controlled immigration program that is committed to
maintaining a balance of 60% economic immigrants and 40% non-economic immigrants (family
class, refugees, and those in need of protection). Amongst non-economic immigrants, priority is
given to spouses/partners and dependent children.

In order to expedite the processing of your application, we are requesting that you provide the
following as soon as possible:
• Payment of your Right of Permanent Resident Fee (landing fee) to our office in
Mississauga by your sponsor in Canada, if not already paid.
• Submission of police clearance certificates for time spent in any country for a period
of 6 months or more, if not already submitted.
• Submission of original passport along with any old expired passports for you and your
accompanying family members. The picture in the passport for a child under 6 years
of age must have been taken within the last 3 years. The picture in the passport for a
child between the ages of 7 and 18 must have been taken within the last 5 years.

Please note that a request for your passport(s) at this time is not a guarantee of visa
issuance. Passports are requested so that we can hold them on your file and issue your
visas as soon as possible after all requirements have been met.

PLEASE RETURN A COPY OF THIS LETTER WITH THE REQUESTED DOCUMENTS.
Documents and passports must be submitted in a SINGLE package. Do not submit any
documents and passports until you have prepared the entire package.

If you do not have a passport at this time, you are requested to obtain one and send it along with the other requested documentation. Passports should be sent by any secured mail deliverers (hand delivery will not be accepted). Passports can not be returned to addresses outside of India, Nepal and Bhutan. If your current mailing address is not in India, Nepal or Bhutan, please provide an address in that territory.

If any other documents are requested before or after your passport is submitted, you
must comply with that request. No decision will be taken on your application until all
of the requested documents have been received by us.

You MUST inform our office of any change in your mailing address, a change in your marital
and/or family status, or other information relevant to your application. Due to our operational
constraints we will not be able to acknowledge receipt of the new information, but it will be noted
on your file. You may also visit our websites: www.cic.gc.ca or www.india.gc.ca should you
require more information on the processing of your application.

Sincerely,
Immigration Section
PS: THIS IS A VALID COMPUTER GENERATED LETTER AND DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY
SIGNATURE

priority is only 40% bro, only 40%

You are actually right. There is only 40% for non economic and spouse comes under family class only. This do come under reunion law but still it comes under a quota I believe. They cannot stop taking applications for this class but they can slow down in order to manage the qouta. It is just my thought and I hope this is all wrong and we get our visa this month for sure...Many of us applied in April and May and still waiting...

It is like we all helpless right now...

If this is the case then it means, the quota limit was reached even before they completed applications from first half of the year.. Isn't that truly sad. Next week will decide a lot of things. If things move, it will be an indicator that the halt was due to Harper's visit and Diwali. If it doesn't then NDVO should be obligated to answer us. Any suggestions how do we do it? Writing to them does't help. Some people do not even get replies from MP. MY consultant seems to be hand in hand with NDVO. Every time we call them, they are like its going to take two months more, three months more blah blah. We have stopped calling all together.

Updating 9 months for processing on the website has become like an escape path to them. Forums like these which are only respite from, vague statues on ecas and generalized replies from NDVO or MPs are indicated as untrue and false. We are entitled to a more transparent and fair system.

I agree its their country, they can have their rules for their welfare. But shouldn't everyone have the right to know what those are. Some may choose not to apply, call our spouses here. It ridiculous that they pick files at random, process relatively newer files while others wait wondering what's wrong with their applications.

When I was about to be married, I used to tell people that I am going to Canada. It was a matter of pride. After all Canada is one of best places to live. Six months after, I am in serious doubt.

Guys, Have been away for few days. Please let me know if I have missed any updates which needed to be done on spreadsheet. Thanks a lot.

Am agree with every word of yours, my friend. It is a matter of embarassment for now. 7 months ago we applied for the visa and still its in doubt and I feel awkward when someone asks about it. A blend of feelings like frustration, embarassment, sadness are on my mind now a days :( :( :( when the day wil come when our life will be full of excitement and happiness :( Oh god please help us!!

i jus hope next week brings in updates.. n good news for us all.. apr n may applicants ... who have waited a lott now.. when ppl who applied after us have got their visas n r wid their spouses ....

To be honest, I could care less about people asking me. I think its more about me wanting to be with my husband, whereever he is more than anything else in the world. I have been away from him for a whole year now. It hardly matters what others think..what really hurts is that we lost a lot of time away from eachother and it ain't coming back. But having said that, I also feel that I have learned so much in the mean time. I think we all have. To deal with something like this is in itself a very big deal. Sometimes we feel we can't take it anymore...but the truth is we are that strong that we can, no matter our mood swings, madness and all that..we all know will wait it out and get through this one day..and we are all hopeful. It's now I realize how much patience I have developed, how much tolerance..and persistence! Maybe I would have never learned all this any other way. Life teaches you lessons in the most mysterious of ways. I never thought I'd have to go through this long lonely, tormenting phase...but I am..and I have to. Nobody said it was gonna be easy.

Looking at the disappointment in the last few pages, I almost want someone to lie to all of us that his/her status changed to 'Decision Made'...at this stage, we need something to keep us going ... 'strength to all'
