There is a possibility that Parliament will not convene until September or October or whenever Mr Harper decides to. It's called 'proroguing'. And if the PAFSO and Treasury do not reach an agreement til Parliament starts, then yes, the strike may go on until September or whenever.
However, no official sources have released a statement saying so. So don't panic and don't make others panic.
Plus, do you think the striking officers are having a gala time, sitting at home, shaking their legs? No. They are out there picketing. Who knows if they'll even get paid for this. They had to come up with a strike fund out of their own pockets.
Also, even if Parliament convenes and they force these guys back to work (which is why this thing could drag on that long in the first place) does anyone want a grumpy officer going through their file?
Exercise your right by making yourself heard. That is all we can do right now. If we are moving to a democracy, make yourself heard. And please quote official sources so that we don't freak out over rumours, which may or may not be true.
Maple- I agree with you. But there have been confirmations that PAFSO is now paying strikers 100% of their salary so that they can commit fully to the cause.
Here is the article I am referring to

Normally, when you strike you get a stipend, when i went on strike 7 years ago with PSAC (it lasted one week), I got either $50-75/day (I can't remember now). It surely is not enough money to live in most countries. I am sure the strikers want to go back to work, no one wants to picket. It is not fun. But there is a reason we have unions and PAFSO is protecting their members. It's the gov't who should be looking out for us citizens, because they are the people we vote for not the union.
Secondly, no one has released any statement about this strike going on until the fall, let's try to be positive and share factual information about the strike.
Here is a great place to talk to other people going through the same thing: And lot of good news articles being posted from around the globe
