STOP! WASTING YOUR TIME MY FRIENDS BY POSTING HERE FOR HOPE THIS............HOPE THAT........... AS IF THEY ARE GOING TO CALL ANYONE US ANY TIME SOON.
IT's BEEN CONFIRMED THAT THEY ARE GOING TO BE REMAIN ON STRIKE TILL SEPTEMBER, 2013. I AM SO PISSED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi can you tell us where you read this?

These PAFSO f****** people so greedy for the money. The starting salary of every PAFSO Officer starts in between $80,000 to $85,000 plus bonuses on top of the starting salary, which makes them one of highest earning employees in Canada and still they are so bloody greedy.

We are all affected here, some have been waiting more than others.

However, I do not think this is a greed issue. Canada is a democratic country and even Foreign Service Officers are allowed to express themselves if they feel the government has been unfair to them. This is between them and the government. Unfortunately we are dragged into this mess.

But note that it's not about who is paid more.

Our job here is to ensure that our voices are heard. Email the PM, the Immigration Minister, Treasury Board chief, everyone who is in a influential position. If you present the facts of your story, and stick to the valid points, you will get a response.

I'll advise you not to panic, it's not worth it.

There is a possibility that Parliament will not convene until September or October or whenever Mr Harper decides to. It's called 'proroguing'. And if the PAFSO and Treasury do not reach an agreement til Parliament starts, then yes, the strike may go on until September or whenever.

However, no official sources have released a statement saying so. So don't panic and don't make others panic.

Plus, do you think the striking officers are having a gala time, sitting at home, shaking their legs? No. They are out there picketing. Who knows if they'll even get paid for this. They had to come up with a strike fund out of their own pockets.

Also, even if Parliament convenes and they force these guys back to work (which is why this thing could drag on that long in the first place) does anyone want a grumpy officer going through their file?

Exercise your right by making yourself heard. That is all we can do right now. If we are moving to a democracy, make yourself heard. And please quote official sources so that we don't freak out over rumours, which may or may not be true.

@maplegal86

Seems like you are okay with the strike, agree and fully supporting PAFSO. This issue couldn't have been resolved or can be resolved asap if both parties talk and come to point. There is no point of making a public suffer from all this... We pay a lot of taxes to this bloody government not cause they can make us suffer from there non-sense plus we don't even know what's happening between both parties. Just for your info NDVO is completely shut down and they are no longer going to work on any application till September.

guys don,t worry
treasury board is going to give some statement on the strike
hope that will be positive news

HEY reeyan...I agree wid you totally......

Hi Maplegal,

Your's and mine timeline are preety much the same NDVO recd my application on June 21st 2012.
My med's expired on 18th April.
My passport expired on 03 July and it's a shame that they are still holding on to my passport since Nov 2012.
My interview was scheduled on 21st June and NDVO called me and cancelled the interview, these guys called my wife in Canada and conducted a telephonic interview.
NDVO asked for some more documentation which has been furnished to them on April 12th 2013.
I don't understand what the heck they are doing with my expired passport....lol may be hatching eggs on that.
Honestly, I have lost all the charm for Canada. I am considering settling in Delhi for good.
I have not seen my kids only once for few days in the past 2 year's and believe me its a mental agony.
The cloudy atmosphere under which NDVO acts ruins life of thousands of genuine couples.
I have lived in States and Canada in the past and trust me I have not seen such an inhuman culture elsewhere but only in Canada.

Canadian government rob poor immigrants from the third world countries of their resources and wealth in the name of Immigration.

In the end I hope god gives everybody strength to come out from this horrible and endless waiting game.

Maple- I agree with you. But there have been confirmations that PAFSO is now paying strikers 100% of their salary so that they can commit fully to the cause.
Here is the article I am referring to
http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/sunnews/politics/archives/2013/07/20130729-151852.html

Normally, when you strike you get a stipend, when i went on strike 7 years ago with PSAC (it lasted one week), I got either $50-75/day (I can't remember now). It surely is not enough money to live in most countries. I am sure the strikers want to go back to work, no one wants to picket. It is not fun. But there is a reason we have unions and PAFSO is protecting their members. It's the gov't who should be looking out for us citizens, because they are the people we vote for not the union.

Secondly, no one has released any statement about this strike going on until the fall, let's try to be positive and share factual information about the strike.
Here is a great place to talk to other people going through the same thing: And lot of good news articles being posted from around the globe
