Do you have any travel history? Do you mind listing it out? I'm just trying to understand why mine is delayed.

Hello Friends,

For those members here who have already received their PP with PRV stamp, what method did CHC use to send back your PP? Was it via regular mail or registered post or by courier?

Senior members, any comments?

Thanks.

Cheers,

Small update: eCas shows that the application has begun processing as of May 14.

Hoping for a quick change to DM because the file is simple (first marriage, arranged, no travel by wife (applicant), and I'm a Canadian citizen by birth).

Congrats Bachansoo on your inProcess! All the best!

Question regarding spreadsheet? Are the incomplete application listed due to members who have not provided their specific updates? Or is this a true reflection of everyone's status?

Thanks !

It will depend on the information provided by the members and not sure everything is updated. So if you want a true reflection you need to check the members with incomplete information and check out their last posts to make sure.

Hi folks,

I see that there are a few people in my situation, which is:
Received GCMS notes, and it shows NDVO sent PPR to incorrect email, or for some reason, we did not receive the PPR email.

In my case, I emailed them immediately with "URGENT: Incorrect contact email address. Please re-send passport request" in the title.
Some people suggested just sending the passport to NDVO with a cover letter, without waiting for them to re-send the PPR. Has anyone actually done this? I'm not looking for speculation on whether this is a good idea. Does anyone have personal experience doing this, or remember someone doing this in the past on this forum? Did it actually work?

I contacted my MP, and she said this:
Please do not send your wife's passport in. I received a stock reply from New Delhi which did not include any details whatsoever. My contact in the Minister's office is looking into the file and may be able to provide some information.

So for now I'm waiting, but I see cases (e.g., IndCan), who have been waiting several months without reply from NDVO on the same matter. So I don't want to wait too long.

Subject: Health Insurance

Hi all,

A question for those who have received their visa and arrived in Canada already. Specifically for those who came to Ontario.

Background
I've been living in Ontario for 13 years now. Here in Ontario, we have a government sponsored health plan - Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). It covers a lot of basic health-care expenses, such as hospitalization, visiting the walk-in clinics or emergency room, ambulance fees (a certain %), etc. It is provided to all residents by the Government of Ontario (yes, that's part of why we pay so much tax here). However, for a new resident, you are not eligible for OHIP coverage for the first 3 months from when you arrive here. So for that time, you have to get your own private health insurance. I know this is thinking pretty far ahead for a lot of us, but it's important too.

Query
I have been looking into private health insurance from Canada for when my wife gets here. But I'm thinking why not get it from India before they leave (as they will still be Indian citizens though they have PR in Canada)? I've looked into it a bit, but I'm wondering if anyone else has looked into or actually taken travel insurance from India - i.e. health insurance for Indians travelling abroad. Several companies offer "Overseas Medical Insurance for an Individual," and I believe health-insurance for this specific purpose is covered. It's definitely cheaper, but I'm concerned about whether we will have trouble when making claims, if customer service will be a problem, etc. Has anyone done this? Can anyone recommend a good company to go with for travel insurance?

Thanks!
