Hello everyone,

I completed the required days of physical presence after making up for the days of absence on March 10, but my wife will complete her days in June 3 because she has more days of absence. Shall I wait for her and apply together or shall I go ahead and apply for myself and for my daughter who is below 18, then apply for my wife separately in June? I'm hoping to hear your experience. I'm just worried about the new law that no one knows when it is going to be effective!

You can apply individually or you and your daughter can apply right now and your wife can apply when she is eligible.

If CIC officer asks you why you did not apply together, you can tell them that your wife was not eligible that time.

In case June 3rd the new law does not come into effect then your wife can immediately once she is eligible. If new law comes into effect then your wife has to wait.

If I were you, I would go ahead and submit an application for myself and my daughter. You never know when the new law will come into effect.

It depends what is your goal to apply before the bill or after the bill...? If you want to wait your wife and apply together that's the perfect option, but they might change the rules before June.
Really confusing situation, because the cut off date from April onwards is very unpredictable. They might change the rules without notice in advance.
Keep in mind the new rules might be effective anytime April, May, June, July.

Thank you very much everyone.
I think that I'll go ahead and apply before my wife and hopefully the new law won't affect her.

What are the new rules ? and how could it effect us those who are going to apply late.

Thanks

I received this while checking on my application, note that I applied for citizenship with all requirements, some say I might need to get Biometrics?
