Hi,

I'm looking at:
Work experience — requirements

(7) For the purposes of this section,
•(a) a period of employment during which the foreign national was engaged in full-time study is not to be included in calculating a period of work experience;•(b) a period of self-employment or unauthorized work is not to be included in calculating a period of work experience;
•(c) the foreign national must have had temporary resident status during their period of work experience and any period of full-time study or training; and
•(d) the full-time equivalent for part-time work experience is 30 hours of work per week.

I did 2 coop terms (8 months) and I know it is part of my studies but I was not studying while I was working. Will it still count?

Thanks,

Thanks,

i'm in the same exact position as you, and unfortunately it is not counted because you were on a study permit.

Co-op terms are part of your full time study.
For example, if you do a 2 year program, encompassing 4 study semesters and 2 co-ops, it will be counted as 2 year of full time study.

If you were working full time during a break period (summer semester off), then it can count towards work experience.

It is a boon only to applicants living / lived in Canada. CiC targets only applicants inside Canada to give invitations and hence the ease of rules.

Hi

Did you confirm cic or have you seen any where on cic website?

what does it mean :

Work in excess

(6) For the purposes of this section, a period of work experience that exceeds full-time work in one occupation, or simultaneous periods of work experience in more than one full-time occupation, are to be evaluated as a single period of full-time work experience in a single occupation.

Please help senior members or anyone else who confirmed about that if someone has work experience on study permit during summer vacation then it will be counted or not for getting work experience?

Thanks very much for your time.

This is very good information, actual good news from CIC. Will definitely prove useful to many applicants. What I find most interesting is the timing of the announcement and how it helps out people under CEC specifically. I am hoping this could mean we are going to see a CEC-specific draw this weekend.

So does this mean, no matter where I worked/under whichever NOC doesn't matter, I will still get points if I was on a work permit?
