I'm sure there is a post about this already and most people are aware of it, but the cap has been reduced from 12,000 to 8,000 as of May 1.

So in regards to this, does it mean that the count has now reset? Last time I looked, it was about 6200/12000 of the cap reached. Does that mean that they didn't fill the maximum amount of applicants before they changed the cap size today?

This would be a good thing for people who applied before this happened today if they didn't get anywhere near reaching the cap limit before May 1. I don't funnily understand the process. Maybe I'm totally wrong.

exactly. They didn't "reduce" the cap, they reset it. In effect, the total "cap" for the year has been increased. They are transitioning to a new system.

it's actually better for those who apply after May 1, esp. in "B" level NOCs that had already reached the previous cap -

My suspicion is that they are using a smaller cap in order to transition to the new Express Entry system which is slated to be introduced in 2015.

Again, no official word on this yet but I think they are going to can CEC (at least the way it exists today) and perhaps previous experience working in Canada will become a "positive" in determining Express Entry status?

Is there any way of viewing the final figures and caps for the last round before they reset it? Im a Dec 2013 applicant, so I was able to see where they were up to before, but now I have no idea how many are accepted in my NOC anymore.

Okay, I have some basic questions. If anyone could reply, I would be so thankful.

Due to the recent increase in the PNP processing time and with my work permit expiring soon, I am thinking of applying for CEC.
I don't know how to interpret the numbers on CIC website for the applications "accepted."
Does "accepted" mean "received" or "processed and issued PR"? Also, if the cap has been reached, are the other applications that have not been processed yet automatically revoked or do they get carried over to the next year's pool? I am thinking of applying under NOC B stream.

Thank you so much!

To my understanding, accepted applications mean applications that have been issued an AOR. The system is changing from January 1st I think. So applications received after that date will probably be returned with instructions to submit using the new Express Entry System. This is just my opinion though. Seniors please confirm.

"Number of applications accepted" refers to applications received and acknowledged (not returned).

If the cap is reached this does not affect applications that were already accepted for processing. Applications that arrive after the cap has been reached will be returned and you would have to re-submit the application, and if the rules had changed in the meantime you would be subject to those new rules.
