New Biometrics Rule?

Hello,

Very surprisingly, under the newly passed rule, all PR applicants via Express Entry are requested to provide biometrics, and those who are already in Canada (work or study permit) have to leave the country in order to get their biometric data collected.

Does anyone know why the government passed this weird requirement? Perhaps some people have already went through this stage ? Any info would be very much appreciated

It’s a good thing. Also many biometrics applicants including myself didnt have to spend more than 6 months under Comprehensive Security Screening.

Yes, that is right. It is always useful to give biometrics from th beginning of PR application process. But why to leave Canada and get scans in a third country?
