The new bill can't come into force before it's published in the Canada Gazette (once royal assent is given to the bill), so the standard is still 1095 days out of the last four years.

The fees required are now $400 instead of $200. If you include less than $400 your application will be returned.

Send your application as soon as possible, this bill is not retroactive and will only apply once fully adopted! The date that counts is the date they receive your app, not the date they start processing it! You cant be held accountable for their delays!

Send your application ASAP!

The fees have nothing to do with the new bill, the decision was taken in last year's federal budget!

Unlikely. CIC needs to adjust their systems and train staff. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen soon enough....

the fees was increased effectively from 6th Feb. Charging fees is an operational matter of CIC and can be increased (or decreased) without passing a law. however, to implement new changes, the proposed bill needs to become a law which can take anywhere between 6 months to 2 years.

hope this helps.
