New application after application withdrawal

Hi everyone,

I withdraw my citizenship application about 1 month ago, as recommended by the immigration officer who was in charge of my file, because I miscalculated the days I was present in Canada and there was no chance that my application was going to succeed. I saw my application as withdrawn online, but I am still waiting for their confirmation letter (and I am supposed to get a $100 refund but I am not sure how long it will take).

I am considering to reapply back-to-back, because I only had 7 days missing when I applied back in September, so now I am good for sure. However, I was reading on this forum that I would probably be subject to a higher level of scrutiny, is that right?

I will be out of the country from September 2017 until January 2018 most likely, so I am not sure if I should reapply now or if I should when until I come back, as they may invite me to the test when I am gone, and I don't know if I can just let them know when I am coming in order for them to schedule a test when I am back? When I applied back in September, it took only 2 months to get invited to the test, but now that I am applying for the 2nd time, I am not sure that they will be as fast to reinvite me in Mississauga...

Any insights?
Thanks! :)

Pre-Assessed..
I had a similar situation. My best advice to you is to reapply asap if you intend traveling in December. Also, note that your intention to stay out of the Country till January 2018 without taking the Citizenship Oath is risky; say you apply this week, there's some possibility you could take the Oath depending on the processing center before September. Secondly, traveling when your file is IP goes against your intent to stay in Canada as stipulated in the application guide and could possibly land you in trouble. So you need to weigh the options.

As per your question on more file scrutiny, I don't think so. I withdrew my first Citizenship application on the advice of the Citizenship judge and he clearly made it clear to me that it was the best choice since it's voluntary. Conversely, a person may face more scrutiny if the first Citizenship application is denied. Best of luck....

Thanks for your answer. Is your file still being processed or did you get the citizenship eventually?
Yeah it is a hard decision to make... I really don't want to jeopardize everything again if I am going to be traveling out of the country, but I am worried about how long it could take if I apply now. It would be only 4.5 months... that would be great if at least I got invited to take the test by then, then I know that for the oath ceremony it can take up to 1 year to reschedule it. It happened to a friend of mine, they set a date when he was away and he took the oath 12 months later. It is okay if I have to wait for the oath, I am more worried about getting the invitation when I am away. I won't be able to come back.

If you became a citizen, how long did it take to have you file processed the second time?

Thanks!
