NEW 38 OCCUPATION LIST ADVISE

Dear Friends,


I saw from Citizenship and Immigration Canada website that new skilled worker applications list of occupation is eligible for processing: NOC number: 9212: Supervisors, Petroleum, Gas and Chemical Processing and Utilities.

I would like to know if I eligible for submitting documents under new list of occupations (NOC number: 9212)?
My qualification is Chemical Technology Engineer, Specializing – Environment protection and rational use of natural resources.
I working since June 2002 at Pharmaceutical industry in the Analytical Research and development department there I senior researcher.
Additional I am responsible to instruct some of new workers. I have permission to sign on workbooks and to release the results.

9212 Supervisors, Petroleum, Gas and Chemical Processing and Utilities
Supervisors in this unit group supervise and co-ordinate the activities of workers in the following unit groups: Petroleum, Gas and Chemical Process Operators (9232), Chemical Plant Machine Operators (9421), Labourers in Chemical Products Processing and Utilities (9613), Water and Waste Plant Operators (9424), Stationary Engineers and Auxiliary Equipment Operators (7351) and Power Systems and Power Station Operators (7352). They are employed by petroleum and natural gas processing, pipeline and petrochemical companies, chemical and pharmaceutical companies, water and waste treatment utilities and in a range of other industries and institutions. Applicants with experience in the following occupations may also be considered under this NOC depending on the specifics of the main duties performed: Supervisors of telecommunications workers, power utility electricians and power line workers (in 7212 Contractors and Supervisors, Electrical Trades and Telecommunications Occupations)

I think you have a shot. You just need to specify your duties as a supervisor in your company. This is just my opinion.

What I mean is you should make a list of all your duties and responsibilities in your present work. Emphasize supervisory roles as this is what Canada is looking for.

You mentioned that you were resonsible for instructing new workers. Expound on that and try to break down what you do with them as their supervisor.

As a senior researcher, do you have higher responsibilities than your junior colleagues? If so, what are they? What do you do as a senior which your juniors can not do?

When you say you have permission to sign in workbooks and to authorize the release of results, do you perform quality check performances on each assigment before signing? etc etc etc...

Ofcourse I am just trying to give you an idea but I'm sure you can put it all together as I am not in your field of expertise.

If you can show to the immigration officer that you are, in effect, a supervisor then you have a real chance.
