Hi everyone,

I am looking to move to Canada to join my girlfriend (of 3 years). She is a Canadian citizen and I am from the UK. I enrolled in the IEC program last year but just before I got to use the it an unmissable job opportunity presented itself to me in Bali, Indonesia. Unfortunately for the job hasn't panned put how it should of done and I will be leaving Bali within the next few weeks. I have been on the the CIC website looking for ways to get into Canada, I am hoping to make the move there permanent one day as I know that one day I would love to marry my girlfriend. Back in the UK I worked primarily in the hospitality trade with such jobs as Bar Manager, F&B Manager and Assistant Hotel General Manager. Financially I am covered, I have savings and access to funds elsewhere if needed. When I looked on the CIC website it was suggested that the express entry was the way to go for me.....Can anyone verify this for me? Does anyone know that cost of this? How long do I have to wait?

My girlfriend is unable to sponsor me as she doesn't fit the guidelines for this.

Because I enrolled on the IEC but didn't use it, am I able to reapply?

Thank you all very much for any help you can give.

Tom

Hi ,

First of all check your eligibility to apply via Express entry , You should have minimum of 67 point. (Check your points here : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp)

Principal applicant $550
Getting your permanent resident status $490

Other Cost may depend on your country :

IELTS
Police certificate
Medical checkups

Waiting period is depend on how many points you score in CRS (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp)
With the new systems CIC tells that you can gain visa within 6 moths , but you need to score higher points to get an invitation.

Hope this helps, Sorry i'm not sure about IEC .
