All,

Do we need to send our current work permit along with the application package? The checklist did not list the current permit required to be sent. I already submitted my application without it and am just thinking it should have been enclosed...

HI,

EDIT: The following is for ONTARIO nominee program only, I do not know about other provinces.

I have to disagree, in the OINP form (the one I'm filling anyway), the checklist does mention the following:

1] "If you or your accompanying spouse have engaged in full-time work in Canada, with appropriate authorization, please provide:

- Copy of the employment authorization (e.g. Work Permit)"

Two questions arise: a) what do they mean by "please provide", does that mean you must provide it? I'm not sure. And b) why "e.g." Work permit? I assume this must mean that an employment authorization could take different forms (maybe other than a work permit).

The good news is, it is possible that this particular section itself is included under the "Additional supporting documents may include:" but it isn't crystal clear, maybe somebody can shed some light on that.

And again, towards the end of the checklist it also mentions, under VI) Additional supporting document:

"Copy of applicant's entire passport including all blank pages, Temporary Resident Visas, entry stamps, and/or any other immigration
stamps, and copies of Work Permits, Study Permits, and/or any other Canadian immigration documents *"

And this time there is a red asterisk at the end, which leads me to believe that it is mandatory to send all the mentioned documents whenever applicable.

To conclude, I'm of the opinion that if you were working under a work permit in Canada, then you must provide a copy of same along with your OINP application. But what do I know.

Since you have already submitted your application, it would be safe to send a copy of all work/study permits you have had if you are able to do so, as it sure couldn't hurt and may even prevent your file from being returned.

Whatever you do, it would be great if you could post an update on this forum to let us know whatever happens, as this could greatly help some who have these same questions (like I do).

Thanks!

I don't find your answer convincing because you mention "any document CIC will ask later". However, we are not dealing with CIC directly here but with a province, which is not the same thing. If you think that it applies to provinces just as well, please let us know!

Yeah I see. I guess the question becomes: which application package is HiCanadiano referring to? I assumed he/she was referring to one of the provinces' application package since this is the provincial nomination thread, but I wouldn't know. Anyway, thank you for clarifying.

Sorry for the confusion. I have been nomited way back in 2015 and the question was about the federal application package. I thought the link will lead to the federal checklist form. Thanks!
