Hi Guys,

I am about to make a decision in which city to land (FSW1 PR) - Calgary, Saskatoon or Winnipeg. I would appreciate any inputs from you about any of these cities. I am also considering Edmonton and Toronto.

If there are similar threads to this topic, please help me direct to those.

Thanks!

Hi Dash,

Thank you for the feedback. Do you think any of the three cities above also offer good opportunities for employment?

NO idea but heard that Calgary is good.........

Well brother...Toronto is certainly the best out of all...In terms of Jobs and Weather.....but transitioning time could be longer..... as if there are more jobs then you have more competition as well.....In terms of weather Calgary....Saskatoon...winnipeg or edmonton ....they all are the same....very cold....calgary becomes a bit better at times because of Chinook...the warm breeze which gives a push to the temprature.......Saskatoon....Winnipeg are a bit lame in terms of jobs.....then you are left with edmonton and calgary ....out of which i would say calgary as in my opinion comparatively calgary is a better job market.....both are alberta...so not much difference in other things.....If i would have been in your shoes..and would have had to make a decision.....apart from toronto....I would have gone to calgary....simple reason job market has a better prospect....as i matter of fact i know someone who just landed .....they landed in winnipeg....then after a month or so moved to calgary....

Choice is always yours because you know your situation better.....as if you have resources and you can survive without a job for 3-4 months then toronto i would is the best option and if not toronto .....calgary is quite good.....Edmonton is not bad either....

Just to add brother...won't recommend vancouver to a new immigrant.....yes the climate is better....but now even that is not a plus.....because this year mets are predicting good amount of snow there.....yes it is certainly beautiful....But expensive.....fewer jobs.....expensive houses.....then certain border area i have heard has got a drug problem.....if you have some money in the pocket then vancouver is ok.....but if not....then it is high on expensive....as it is canada is an expensive country

Thank you Gav. The reason why I am looking at these 3 cities is that I have friends in these cities. And yes, I forgot Edmonton (have friends there too). I also have a relative in Toronto. I have the most number of friends in Calgary though and I am looking at networks to help me land a job, not to mention combat loneliness and the like.

As what I have read, they do say Vancouver is as what you are saying. They are also saying some areas in Saskatoon are "notorious" which I would say I guess all cities have notorious areas.

It seems like Toronto is getting more votes here...

Thank you all for the inputs. Hope to hear more stories on, now with 2 additions - Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Toronto.

What message would appear in your e-CAS when you already have PPR? Would email come first before any update in e-CAS or the other way around?

Anxiously waiting for PPR after e-CAS showing medicals received in the week of Nov 1.

Thanks!

Brother...again...i kind of not recommend people to BC....simple reason...place being expensive and fewer jobs....otherwise its a beautiful place....well finance is something...i know a lot of people good experience in finance and finding hard to get a job in toronto...as there are too many people...i would say... definitely try calgary...one of my best friend is there ....he kept calling me there ...i was all game but got a job in toronto so i am here.....Calgary is good ...less competition....

Brother...if you have good number of friends in calgary then i would say close your eyes and go there...as the biggest thing you need in a new country is support....i has amazing support thats why i am settling faster...and that support was friends only..... Saskatchewan...i would say there is a guy who got a job there ....came back...and his words were he felt a bit of racism there.....don't know how true was that...but according to me calgary will suite you....though i would say toronto is a big city and you get that feel here....but for us ...it is more about settling ......
