Hello everyone,

Since my passport is expiring in October (I am a mid-September Applicant), I would like to know

1) How long do we have (time frame) to do the medicals once they are requested and
2) How long we have after they send in passport request to send the passport in?

I am asking because I know some of the early September applicants got medicals, if I apply for new passport (basically re-issue) I will have to send my passport to Indian embassy and they take like 4 to 6 weeks to get me the new passport :(

Please advice, I am confused if I should go ahead apply for new passport or wait for medicals ??? :'(

Thanks,
P

I was an FSW applicant not a CEC, but i'll share my timeline - it might be useful for you:

1) When i received the medical instructions, i was given 30 days to complete the tests - i did the tests within the allowed timeframe. (However i have a friend who exceeded the allowed number of days - and they accepted it without problems).

2) I received PPR 3 months after the medical request, it did not have a time limit...they just asked to send the PP "at the earliest of your convenience" and it informed that visa will be valid until xxxx (1 year from the medicals completion date).

Regarding your passport renewal/or new passport issuance, you may do it now if you wish...or later, shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure to update CIC with the new passport details once you have it.

If medicals/or PPR arrive while your new passport is under processing - you can explain the situation to CIC and you should be fine.

I see nothing to worry about...but again, thats my opinion - you may seek advice from other forum members
