I am beginning to wonder if I will ever be Legal here in Canada. I applied as an outland applicant from the USA while visiting. I married a Canadian citizen over 2 years ago. They told me at immigration that it was perfectly fine to apply as an outland applicant even though I am here as a visitor. I sent in my application and 3 months later had it returned saying it was missing a form which it wasn't they had thought it was an inland application someone apparently messed up. I returned the forms back to them explaining that is was OUTLAND and the form that they were wanting was not even part of the application package. I also had to update some of the forms before I sent it back :o I am assuming that I went to the back of the line again as they did not give me a different address or anywhere to send it. Its frustrating because it wasn't my mistake. Now I TRY to call immigration Canada to ask Questions and I don't think their is a way to get a agent , its crazy!!! Does anyone know a special secret combination of what to press to get a living breathing person on the line? Not that it will do much good at this point I know I just have to wait another 3 months or more. SO FRUSTRATING

When did you resubmit the forms? Current Sponsor Approval processing time is listed as 48 days, and the approval of principal applicant depends on which visa office your file is sent to.

Can you give us your timeline, when you applied, married or common-law, etc?

Ugh that's so annoying (and unfair), it has happened to quite a few people in this forum as well.

Hopefully they will put you back in queue... they are "updating" their call centre and now it is absolutely impossible to get in touch with an agent. I tried all morning. After 20 long steps they were like "they're all busy". And then when you try again, there's no option. I hope this gets fixed soon!

I know that a lot of people have had the same problem you had, hopefully they'll read this.

Hello all!

Two updates:

First, when our application was initially returned to us in error, we sent it back immediately along with a cover letter which indicated we would be CC'ing the Minister of CIC on the correspondence. I did so by email and received an immediate auto-reply saying something along the lines of "We have received your correspondence and someone will get back to you within two weeks however we don't acknowledge complaints, individual claims, etc." So I thought that would go nowhere. HOWEVER! I did receive a reply a MONTH after I sent that email from one of the Minister's aides telling me that they inquired into our case and told CIC to reinstate us at our original application date! I was quite surprised! We received SA on September 8th.

still haven't heard anything and mailed application in August 13th after having my application returned to me saying was missing a form, which I wasn't . I originally mailed my application in May >:( I have been waiting six months almost,. It seems like a lot of folks who sent papers off in august were asked to update some forms, hmmm not me. If they delay it much more or send my application back again I may end up having to do the whole medical exam again as I hear they are only good for one year, I had that done in April of this year. This is really starting to get old especially since it was not my fault that the paperwork was returned to me in Error, I was not missing a form. My husband should hear something about sponsorship approval right? like I said it was mailed off August 13 so far nothing.

Current processing times for stage one as of today is at 43 days and they have begun processing applications from Sept 2.

Was your application sent in by courier?

I think your husband should contact CIC about this as you are now past the expected due date.

Good luck dont loose faith.
