My father in law applied for spouse sponsorship while visiting in canada.
Now that Ontario is on lock down and his flight is in 1 week. Is there a possible way for him to stay in canada while is application is beong processed? Because if he flys back home and comes back he is required to stay in a hotel and that is going to be costly.

Someone please help! Thank you

Are you saying that your mother in law (who is a PR or citizen) applied to sponsor your father in law through spousal sponsorship?

If so, your father in law can simply apply to extend his visitor status.

He needs to apply for extension before his current visa expires. He can continue to stay in implied status until a decision made on his extension. Current processing time for visitor extension us 202 days.
