NEED SOME ADVICE! principal applicant with stage 1A cancer

please! i need advice if I can apply as the principal applicant as FSW although in 2008 i was diagnosed with uterine cancer STAGE IA but after 4 months of oral medications its already benign.but in march 2012 i had total hysterectomy because it recurred. other than the operation no other treatment needed, only some follow up check ups for pap smear every 3 months and once a year abdominal ultrasound, my other oncologist doesnt even require me to have pap smear or other follow ups.

my husband has a job offer in alberta and his papers under work permit are just about to be processed. He cant sponsor me just yet and our daughter maybe because his offer is to work in a car wash, he is not qualified as semi skilled/tradesperson category because he is a human resource officer back here. I would really want to be reunited with him the soonest possible that is why being a registered nurse I want to apply in January under FSW together with my daughter.

being a nurse I guess u stand a good chance in applying in January 2013. Stage 1A cancer could place u in the excessive demand on health services but if your claim of being cured is correct then all you need to do is to prove that when u get to medicals stage. You have to give this past medical history of the cancer and you may be asked to do further medical check with the DMP refering you to a gynecologist who will re-examine u with tests to confirm that there is no cancer and write a report to this effect to cic, all under the instruction of the DMP. so all the best!

thanks for your response! i dont know if my oncologist will give me clearance. for cancer patients, it would take 5years in remission, to be considered cancer free.

maybe somebody could give advice bec my TAHBSO operation was in feb 2012. and the results showed good results. no residual cancer. Thank God!

Totally off topic, but just so you know and are prepared, you will be required to take a bridge course to Canadian nursing once you land in Canada (if you're approved). You must possess a 4 year degree (not a 2 year, which is offered in some places). Please keep that in mind - be prepared with funds and time for the course.

You may be able to land jobs as a caregiver for the elderly, special needs, or regular nanny with a foreign nursing degree.

Take a look at all you can find about "excessive demand". Read the outcomes of legal cases and determine how they were won. If you can prove that you have taken all steps to cover the costs stemming from a pre-existing condition you may be in a stronger position. Computergeek's posts will be well worth reading and he is VERY helpful, so give him a shout if you need more help. I hope you continue to remain cancer free and get over this hurdle to PR as well. i have been trying to search re: excessive demand, found out about a dependent with history of cancer won the case since she presented docs saying she only need $250 for her annual medical needs. her blog doesnt confirm whether she is cancer free for 5 years or so... And she's only a dependent, how about if I'm the principal applicant will they be more strict? and I wont seek legal help or agency to process my application? Do i need to seek legal help? thanks for the response.

Great! I see some people so shocked when I tell them about the 2 year degree.

If you can, submit copies of a year's worth of medical statements and work up figures in Canadian dollars too. If you can prove there's no execessive demand without a lawyer involved, the more money in your pocket.

You can also speak with a lawyer for a free consultation and ask everything you need to know without any money changing hands or hiring the lawyer. That's what I did

I have a feeling it doesn't matter if the person is the primary app or a dependent. This is the reason that all family members have to get a Medical whether or not they are planning to go to Canada. If any of them are inadmissible then the application will not be accepted.

thanks again for the pieces of advice. Maybe its really worth a try! But I'm still hesitant to apply because its been only 8 months that my cancer is in remission. I hope somebody can enlighten me more.
