I applied for Canadian immigration in 2002. went to usa in 2003 on a visit visa b1/b2 got an entry for 6 months applied for H1b with in 6 months period but H1 got denied. Applied again with another company but at that time i was over stayed 6 months. Get caught by INS at the same time H1B get approved but they didn’t change my status and told to get it stamped from home country.
INS charged me for working illegally and over stay. I requested for volunteer departure, granted and come back to my home country.
This month I got a paper from Canadian consulate requesting for original docs to proceed for Canadian immigration petition.
my question is will this nonimmigrant status violation going to hurt my Canadian immigration case?
