I applied as a Principal Applicant under FSW category in 2003 and received the file number as well within 12 weeks. However due to some very obvious reasons I provided false information about my personal details on the application form. I did not hear about any further progress on my file from the High Commission even till as late as 2008, so I withdrew my application in 2009. Now my husband wishes to apply as a Principal Applicant under FSW or under Quebec Immigration program and he will mention me as a dependent on his application form. But this time we have resolved to provide true and genuine information only on the application.

Keeping in view the followng facts
- This time it is my husband who is the Principal Applicant
- Few of the personal details are different from those mentioned on my application

Now my concern is:
1. What are the chances of this previous application being detected by the CIC?
2. What method / procedure does the CIC opt for the background check on the applicant - does it refer to its personal information bank or does it only rely on external sources like FBI, Interpol etc ( I do not have any criminal background)
3. Is the background check done before or after the medical?
Experts, kindly advise.

As was said in the other post, you need to provide as much correct information as possible, or it will be deemed misrepresentation. After selection by Qubec, you will need to make a separate application to CIC (generic application, background form, additional fam etc). You are bound to disclose your earlier application. I don't think it will impact on this application but please dont provide false information for this one too last you are done for misrepresentation.
1.Will be detected, but might not affect the new application...you can run, but you cant hide :p
2. All sorts, they collaborate with international security agencies, interpol etc
3. Either ways, they ensure your docs are intact before medical request is issued
Bottom line..BE HONEST!
