Hi,
I am a software engineer and I am having around 6 years of experience. I have planned to immigrate to Canada with my family and I have gathered some information from various sites. Kindly clarify the following points -

1. Whether I have to apply for work permit or Permanent Resident in order to live and work in Canada (note: I dont have any job offer in canada right now).

2. Do I have to take up IELTS ?

3. I heard Canadian Embassy is at Delhi and mumbai. Is it present in any other location in India other than that..

4. How many months will it take to get the visa ?

5. What would be the processing fee for getting PR visa ?

Thanks,
Jay

I assume u r an employee working somewhere other than Canada & have no AEO.
Thus:
-Apply for FSW [not WP].
-Yes, u'll have to take the IELTS.
-Fill-in CHC-ND against your visa office.
-U'll take anything between 6-18 months, usually, to clear the entire process.

All the best!

master qorax has already explained.
I wanna add: Do you manage software projects? Deals with Budgeting and recruitment?
They want IT and Computer systems managers. you needed to perform full time as a manager to apply under FSW1, NOC 0213.

Thanks for the replies.Yes, I used to manage computer projects.
Could you please also help me out with the below points:

1. I am residing in India, where I have to submit my filled application form..?

2. Also if IELTS is mandatory, whether I have submit the IELTS certification along with my application or later I can submit..?

3. Do I have to show any funds in my bank account while submitting the application, if its so how much I should have in my account..?

Regards,
Jay

"When all else fails, read the instructions"

1. The preliminary application goes to CIO Sydney Nova Scotia.
2. If Sydney approves, then you submit the IELTS with the full application to New Delhi.
3. Yes, See the instructions. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp
