Need info on migrating to Canada (work permit)

Hello all,
I am a graduate in Hotel Management from India, currently in US on J1 for a year working in a high end Resort.
At the end of my one year term in US, I would like to migrate to Canada to explore opportunities in my field of skill.

Can somebody here on this forum help me with understanding what it takes to migrate to Canada?
Will I need a job offer from a hotel or a resort before I can apply?
If I have a job offer, what will it take for me to apply for immigration?
Can I apply for a Canadian visa on my own?

PS: I have just started exploring this forum, and am not aware of what it takes to apply for Canadian Visa. So please bear with my ignorance.

Go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/index.asp and read about the different immigration classes to see what you may qualify for. Then come back and ask if you need further assistance.

As Leon says, best to look at the Canada website first. Takes a bit of effort and reading, but well worth it.
