I am an international student interested in applying to either the 'Bachelor of Computer Science' or a similar Bachelors program in Canada

I was previously enrolled in the Computer Engineering program at the University of Guelph since Fall 2021. But as a result of failing to maintain certain academic requirements in engineering, I was forced to withdraw from the program. As a result, I am currently on a two-semester rustication/suspension period from the university to reassess my academic goals and explore other career options. This suspension covers the current summer semester and the coming Fall semester which means i will no longer be on rustication January 2024 onwards. However, I am eager to resume pursuing my education and make the most of my time. I have tried looking for options but all the institutions either do not have my desired program or their cut off is too high and my GPA is only 56.00 out of 100.

The main issue I currently face is, I was told by IRCC that I have 150 days from the time I am no longer a student at my previous institution (University of Guelph) to find a new institution.

Here are my main questions and confusions:

1. When do these 150 days begin? Does it start counting from the last working day of my final semester at UoG, or from the day I officially received communication from UoG that I am required to withdraw?

2. What are some colleges and universities that accept students in this type of situation?

3. What is the best solution to this whole issue that gives me the fastest route to PR as well as help me graduate as soon as possible?

4. How does this affect my status as a student and what are the possible legal issues I may face?

5. Is it a common thing to be in this position or is it a rare unlucky situation?

6. Has anyone ever dealt with such a case before? If so, then please share your experience with me and some tips on how to navigate this mess.

Answers or clarifications or resources to get answers to any of these questions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

1. Start counting from the last day of your final semester / studies.
2. I don't know the answer to this. However I would focus on lower tier public universities such as Nipissing. Stay away from private universities. You may also have to change your program from Engineering to something else.
3. Ideally you want to complete a Bachelor degree since this will give you more points and since some programs require that you at least have a Bachelor degree. At a minimum, you want to complete a 2 year program so that you qualify for a 3 year PGWP.
4. As you've already said, you need to start a new program within 150 days of stopping your studies. Otherwise your study permit will be canceled.
5. I'm not sure I would say it's common.

Good luck.
