Whats your local CIC? Some offices takes years to review your file, so you are lucky if they said 9 months...

Sorry to be the one to give you the news, but applications get normally transfered to local offices because there are doubts about how legit the marriage is. Most of them do not get transfered to local offices but receive AIP instead.

The good news is your application was not refused at this point. Instead it's been transfered without AIP for further evaluation and most likely requiring of an interview... More good news for you is that Hamilton is a quick office. Your wait shouldn't be that long (perhaps under 6 months)...

One thing you can do is stop by there to further inquire about the situation... you may get answers right there and then about your case... There's a thread about applications being transfered to local offices started by Black-Berry, look it up.
Best of luck!.

Sorry, but the immigration people are the ones who decide on your fate, no matter what you, me or anyone else here might say.
All you can do is be patient and answer any requests or questions they put to you.

Anything can raise a red flag to CIC. It could be your Country of origin, the fact you married quickly, dates on your application that do not correspond with other evidence, anything.

Try not to worry too much, an interview is a way of CIC assessing their doubts. So if everything is fine, you should have no problem passing the interview at all. The only down side is that you are still unable to work or get medical coverage whilst you wait. The good side is that you and your wife are together through this.

Can you provide us with details about your life. When did you first come to Canada? How did you meet your spouse? When did you get married? Any previous marriage by any of you? How many people were there in your wedding? Was it a large gathering or only couple of friends? What evidences you put it in with your application?

May be then we all can conclude.. You can order Foss Notes too. FOSS notes will provide you some insight about it as well. Good Luck

There is also another reason for an inland PR ap to be transferred to a local office before AIP and that's if the applicant did not include an application to extend their temporary status with the PR ap. Ordering the FOSS notes can give you some insight into what questions the officer had - if any - about the relationship. You should know already whether or not you still have valid temporary status. If you didn't include an extension application with the PR ap, and you've been in Canada for more than six months (or past the date on your visitor visa, if you require one) then that alone could be the reason for the transfer. Your sponsor should be able to contact the Call Centre to find out how long it might be before you hear from Hamilton CIC.
