I was directed to this forum by a friend of mine and have found it very informative. I have a few questions as my study permit has been approved and I will INSHALLAH be leaving for Canada on the 29th of this month. I have gor a letter of approval that I have to show at the POI to the immigration officer and a sticker type thing in my passport.

My questions are as follows:

1). How much amount can I carry with my to Canada? or how much should I take? Does the immigration officer asks to show the $ 10,000 living expenses to show at the POI?
2). Would I be allowed to work (part time) there along with my studies (On-campus or off-campus)? If yes, how many hours would I be allowed? What kind of job do we get there? How would I get the work permit (part time)? Can I get it as soon as I enter Canada or I have to spend a certain time there to get the part time work permit.

Thanks in anticipation. :)

You can transfer money to university as fees , you can take less than 10000c$ cash with out notifying ....other modes to show money can be Bank statements, travelers checks or bank draft in ur name etc ..
You can work on campus as u enter university for off campus u have to wait for 6 months + 45 days (time for applying off campus work permit) so for seven and half months you can only work on campus...I think u can work on campus 20 hours a week but do confirm it...
