Hello, I was wondering if anyone with more experience with CIC would be able to help me? I am a Canadian Citizen with a Mexican Fiancee. She is here in Canada on a work permit currently that is set to expire in early march. Her Visa will expire around the same time.

We were assuming her employer was going to renew her contract but we found out today they will not be renewing. I was wondering what our options are now? We currently live together in a home we purchased, but we have only lived here for 4 months. So I think we are not legally considered common law yet.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Correct - you won't be common law until you have lived together for a year.

You could convert her status to visitor so that she can stay. Of course she would have to stop working. She could also try to find a different employer who is willing to get an LMIA so that she can get a new work permit.

how do you go about finding an employer willing to get an lima. is there a website for that or would I have to call and ask all the local businesses if they are interested.

Unfortunately there's no magic web site specifically for employers willing to give LMIAs.

Hello just to update the situation. My Fiancees employer has stated they wish to extend her work permit and give her a new contract. What steps do we need to take on our end? I Believe she needs to apply for a work permit extension and she will need proof that her employer has applied for a new LMIA and a contract correct ?
