Hello, I'm super confused right now.

I'm currently in Canada with my husband as visitor. I got acceptance letter from a "designated" college in Ontario.

I'm now applying for Study Permit. So I tried apply online but after the questionnaire it shows "you are not eligible to IMMIGRATE to Canada at the moment." So I could not continue the online process for applying study permit...

Based on the new policy, I'm supposed to be able to apply within Canada, right?? But all the information I found is for applying outside canada in home country or in LA.

I found out there's IMM5709 - Change condition or extend stay, but where should I send this application to???

And for my husband, from what I understand, he can apply for open work permit, is it after I got the study permit ? or he can apply while I'm apply for the study permit??

Thanks!!!

As both of you are visitors you would only be eligible to apply in Canada for a study if you met the following conditions:

study permit from within Canada. These include:

minor children studying at the primary or secondary level;
exchange or visiting students; and
students who have completed a short-term course or program of study that is a condition for acceptance at a designated institution.

So you have to apply at an overseas office.

My question is similar,

My with is my dependent and we are both waiting our passports with TRVs and study permits. Can she change her status to OWP at the POE? or once we land? if both, which one do you think is better/faster?

Thanks!

If I meet one of the condition, how I apply the visa within Canada?

Fill up IMM 5709 & mail your application to CPC-Vegreville, Alberta.

Thank you for your reply!!!

I'm submitting my application to LA VAC.. I was told I can submit my husband's OWP and my son's TRV application to their office at the same time.... which is kinda against to what I was told by CIC 1800#...

Part of the document checklist states:

Valid passport from each person requiring a temporary resident visa.

Since we all in Canada already with a 10 yrs entry visa, do we still need to submit our passport ??

My son is 4 yr old, does he need Temporary resident visa to stay in Canada?? I'm a little confused here, the TRV that was pasted on our passports was for entry right?? I thought my son should apply for some temporary resident permit ?? But I cannot find such information on VAC site
