Hi All,

My brother relocated to Canada on July 18th this year (his PR landing was done in 2017) and I updated my EE profile to claim sibling 15 points and received ITA on July 25th draw. My brother had to travel outside Canada due to an emergency back home on Aug 1st and he is expected to return back to Canada around September 1st/2nd week. I have time till Sep 24th to submit the EE application. On the documentation side, he already has a lease starting from Aug 1st and there are no issues with it.

Any idea if his travel outside Canada after ITA and before my application submission will cause any issue with my application ? Need a bit advise from anyone who has gone through similar situation or any expert in this area.

Your question doesn't exactly make sense to me. If your brother resides in Canada and holds the physical PR card in hand, why would his travel plans affect your claim of sibling points. All IRCC would require is the proof of sibling points.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply. Just to be clear, he started residing in Canada only from July 18th this year and has a physical PR card. My concern was if his travel outside Canada will have any adverse impact on my application.I hope it won't but I wanted to be sure about it.

I mean I don't know for sure but in my personal opinion, I dont think that matters as he is currently a resident residing in Canada and has his PR card.
@hope2018 could you confirm ?

Lease or utility bills should be provided as proof which should be dated within 6 months prior to application submission to prove sibling is residing there.

Document requirements
  • This documentation is required if the applicant indicates that they, or their accompanying spouse or common-law partner, have a family member in Canada who is a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen.
  • A copy of both sides of the family member's Canadian citizenship document, Canadian birth certificate and/or permanent resident card must be provided.
  • Evidence that the family member currently resides in Canada must be provided (a residential lease, mortgage documents, utility bills, etc.).
    • The documents must show their address in Canada and should be recent (dated within six months prior to submission).
  • Proof of the relationship of the applicant or the accompanying spouse or common-law partner to the family member must also be provided (e.g., a birth certificate, an official document naming the applicant as a relative, a copy of the inside back cover of the relative’s passport showing the relative’s parents’ marriage certificate, legal adoption documents and any other documents that prove or describe the relationship).

Thank you all for clarifying it :) Bit relieved now :)
