Hi,

I had applied for Canada visitor visa to attend in-person job interview at Canada. But, my application got rejected. I had included following documents with my online visitor visa application.
  1. Invitation letter for the interview
  2. Last 6 months bank statement
  3. Flight and hotel booking details
  4. Passport
They refused application over 179(b) and the reason they gave is that visa officer is not assured that I will leave Canada based on my travel history, purpose of visit and personal asset and financial status.

I had selected "Other" in online application form and in IMM5257e form selected "Visit" as purpose of my application. And, I have not travelled any other country before. I think my bank balance should not be the reason for the rejection.

What are the additional document I should provide with my application to mitigate the concerns?
What should I give purpose of my visiting Canada in the application form?
Is the absence of employment certificate and leave approval letter from my current employer is the reason for rejection?

Kindly help me with quick response, as I need to apply again.

Thanks in advance!

What and who is the interview for? Beware there are many many scams out there offering fake jobs, so how did you get the interview? How much money in your bank account did you show? If you have not travel history at all, that is a big reason why you were rejected. Why choose Canada before any other country?

Also showing them an letter saying you are going for an interview is not good. They are thinking, you come here, do the interview, get the job and then just stay. You cannot work on a visitor visa.

@russ6970

The company is one of the reputed product based software company. I had applied at their carrier website and after online and phone interview round they are asking for in-person interview.

I had shown 8k CAD equivalent money in my bank account plus flight and hotel bookings details.

So, at present situation what should I do to get a visa so that I can attend the interview?

When you say carrier website, what do you mean by that? What is the name of the company? I am just asking all this, as there are a lot of scams that offer phone interviews as well. Are you employed at the moment?

8k in the bank should be sufficient. I hope you didn't actually pay for your flights and hotel yet.

Sorry for the typo. It is career section of the company website where you can apply for job opening.
All flight and hotel bookings are done by the interviewing company only.
Yes I am employed in India currently.

I will ask again. What is the name of the company? What is the website you applied at? If you don't provide any information, nobody here can try and help.

www.ea.com? Was that the website you applied to? What is the job for? What are you employed as in India?

Please answer ALL of these questions. We are only volunteers, so we can't spend time asking and answering one question at a time.

Ok all sounds legit. Do you know if the company has an LMIA set up for this job? This is needed to employ a non-Canadian.

  1. Invitation letter for the interview I don't think this was a good idea, even though that is your real intention
  2. Last 6 months bank statement That is appropriate
  3. Flight and hotel booking details Have the company arranged these under your name?
  4. Passport This is fine
Did you include anything that shows ties to India, including verification of your job (if your job in India asks, just say you are visiting Canada, not going for a job). This is a big tie and shows you have a reason to return to India. Have you got property and family in India? You should include these details too. Same as above

Do you know anyone in Canada apart from the Interviewer?

Unfortunately, your travel history or lack of is a big red flag. You have to really convince them that you are coming back to India. Did you write a statement of purpose letter? As, you have already stated you are going for an Interview, unfortunately, I think you will find it really hard now to get a visa.

Mentioning the interview was probably your mistake, should have just gone as a tourist, now thats on file.
Remote interview over Skype or something might be best option surprised they dont offer that.

Yes, the company has booked the flight and hotel under my name.
I didn't provide my current job related documents in my application. To show my reason to return to India I can provide employment letter, salary certificate, and leave approval letter from my current employer.
I don't know anyone in Canada apart from the interviewer.
I didn't include any SOP last time but I had written a cover letter to explain my itinerary and purpose of my visit.

Is it worth to try again for visa including employment letter, salary certificate, and leave approval letter from my current employer?
Do I need to also include a letter to convince the visa officer with my application that I will be returning to India after the interview?
Any suggestion regarding what should I tell in that letter?

EA should have a legal department. Have you asked them to file the visa request with your cooperation? The issue is also your low savings.

I think the only real chance you have of getting a visa is to contact EA. I would take Bongoman's advice and see if you can get a Skype interview. Have they told you whether they have LMIA for this position. They would probably get one since it is a skilled position, but they will need one.
