Need help - Mother from Philippines 6months visit requiring medical exam

Hi to all,

I'm a new member to your very informative forum. I really need help for my mother temporary visiting visa application. Her application was submitted November 21, 2016 and on the November 27 we received a new message and they were requiring her to have a medical exam. I was wondering why because she will only be staying for 6 months or less. Please help..Thank you so much.

I was expecting not to have it because it will only be a short period of visit. The reason that I'm thinking why they asked her to have her medical exam maybe because she traveled to Saudi Arabia last Oct 2015 and the date of stay to Canada is from Dec18, 2016 to June 18, 2017. Do you think would this be the reasons? Can we contact them and ask if she really needs? Please help

Hi,

I guess depending on the age of the applicant, CIC can ask for a medical exam. Is there any specific information that you think can lead to medical exam? But as you said, typically visitor visa of less than 6 months does not require any medical exam. But it is not a rule. I am not sure that travel to Saudi Arabia is the reason for medical exam.

If possible, go for the medical exam. All the best

Hi Sharma & Scylla,

Thank you so much. We will go on the medical exam. I only hope that she will get her visa before January 28, 2017 because were planning to come and accompany her during her travel. I will post an update once done. Thank you again.
