Hello friends,

I got some queries regarding supporting documents to be sent to CIC under family class sponsorship, which are as follows:

1. Marriage certificate

The document check list IMM5491 suggests us to include a copy of marriage certificate under sponsor supporting documents (checklist no 14) and thus we have planned to put it in envelop 1 for sponsor documents. Likewise, document checklist tells us to provide proof of relationship to sponsor (checklist no 25) under sponsored person's supporting documents, for which we have planned to supply relationship verification certificate in envelop 2 for sponsored documents. The confusing part here is - country specific guide (New Delhi) also requires us to send a copy of marriage certificate under proof of relationship to sponsor (check list no 5) and it means we have to include this document again in envelop 2 for sponsored documents. So my concern is- do I need to provide two copies of the same marriage certificate one in envelop 1 & other in 2? In my opinion why they need two copies of the same document?

2. Educational and work experience documents of Sponsored person

The documents checklists do not say anything about providing the educational certificates and work experience letter of person being sponsored (Applicant). It means there is no need to enclose the educational and work experience certificates of sponsored person with the application package. Is that right?

3. Translation of chat logs

We use native language (not english) while chatting each other and thus we are planning to translate our chatting in native language into English. But we are not sure how to do it. We retrieved our chat logs using one software and all chatting data have automatically been saved in notepad, which can be manipulated. So, please suggest me which method is better and appropriate either to provide unofficial translation just in the side or below the every line of chatting (in original document) or supply two sets of chatting logs one is original without translation and the other is the translation version of original.

Thank you for your support in advance.

1. You only need to provide one copy of your marriage certificate. Everything is sent together, so they will know to use the marriage certificate for whatever information they need.

2. You don't need to supply education certificates or degrees, but if you want to prove that you and your spouse won't have difficulty supporting yourselves, you can send a copy of them to show they have some specific skills that could help in getting a job.

3. Are these online chats? If you want to translate yourself a handful of them you can. I wouldn't worry about getting these professionally translated. If you have hundreds of pages of chats, I would only send a small sample and let them know there are more if they like.

May I suggest that you include one copy of marriage certificate in Sponsor documents and another copy in Immigrant File.
I am sure you will be sending few envelopes and several sheets of paper, i would prefer not to make the officer search for such an important document.

All the documents are together. It is one application. You don't need to send two marriage certificates.

also, no matter how many envelopes are sent within the application, CIC is simply going to take everything out, and organize it per their protocols. The papers are not going to stay in the envelopes for long. Only 1 marriage certificate is needed. if they neeed to make copies because of their rules, they will do it themselves.
